I'm seriously confused as to why a criminal can't be shot by the police that attacks police officers. They're obviously trying to kill or at the minimum cause bodily harm to the officer(s).

Not an actual Tasing. That was just a drive stun. A full Taze requires both leads and causes neuromuscular incapacitation. A drive stun just causes discomfort. Probably less so when you're a fatass.
