A drunk driver who resisted arrest and stole a taser isn't dangerous to the general public in the immediate area at all?

Come on dude. The guy was an idiot.

If he didn't have the taser, I'd understand, but he was very obviously dangerous, very obviously didn't care about the law or welfare of others and had a weapon. I'd rather him shot dead than out there potentially tasing innocent people.

It does when you take a weapon from a cop then point it at them. What the frick is wrong with you people.

That second video definitely looks like Brooks turned and pointed the taser at the officer and then the officer fired.

If that’s what happened, it’s a justified use of force.

Don’t even care.
1. Don’t drink and drive.
2. Don’t fall asleep in the drive thru lane.
3. Don’t resist arrest.
4. Don’t fight the police and then steal their taser.

If a white guy would have done this I would still feel the same way. But now Atlanta will burn again and we have to do this shite all over again.

But aiming a weapon at a cop does permit them to defend themselves.

I’m as white as Mitt Romney. I am sorry, but if I punched a cop in the face and then stripped his taser from him and pointed that taser at him I would be utterly shocked if I didn’t catch a bullet. This is getting ridiculous!

Why don’t you go down to Atlanta and deal with the filth down there. There’s a reason businesses have steel doors they lock over their business, bars on the windows and they have to let you in when they figure out what you want.

I visit schools frequently, at UGA - no issues, everything is open and you can access any building you need to.

In Atlanta? Like Atlanta Tech, everything is locked down with security everywhere. You can’t enter an office unless you get approval.

But let’s not have a real discussion, let’s talk about the Bad cops!! I stand with the cops, they deal with filth everyday, filth on drugs that you can’t reason with!!!

This is a black community problem, always has been and always will be.

if they are such a deadly weapon like people on this post are implying
They incapacitate. How would you like to be incapacitated by someone that just dam near kicked your arse AND your friends?

Do you know what that person will do next? You are carrying a gun. What will he do?

That would be more than enough reason for ME to use deadly force. And Joe Biden can go to hell. I'm never shooting to wound.

Shoot until dead and then put one in the head.

When you’re interacting with law enforcement it’s a simple decorum.......yes sir, no sir....we all go home, unless you’re a criminal.

I agree, I avoid cops at all costs but when it happens I’m civil with them and nothing happens. I’ve personally witnessed what disobeying a cop can get you and it got me a juvenile criminal record for theft, disorderly conduct, and assault when I was thirteen (sealed now) even though I didn’t do anything. I was with my foster brother and his friends, all 18. We go in and as I’m in the bathroom they steal like 20 packs of cigs while the cashier is in the back. Cops get called and all of them blame me and my foster brother tells them I’m a shitty arse foster kid who steals from his house all the time. So I punch him in the face and start cussing him. Cops tell me to stop, I say “frick off.” Boom criminal record. Then in the car I get told that I’m a worthless foster kid that won’t amount to shite as I’m crying because I know I’m about to get me and my sister kicked out of another foster home when i didn’t even do anything wrong.

I learned from that and have never smarted off to a cop again because it’s stupid. However, brooks didn’t deserve to die for resisting or even stealing the taser.

What he did was stupid and wrong but he shouldn’t have died for it.

The entire premise of this thread is stupid

Can I think of ways that maybe the cops could have avoided shooting this guy? Yes. Does that mean it's a bad shoot? Of course not

We aren't hiring robots to be cops. This crap isn't binary.

It isn't the situation of perfect or completely flawed.

Sheesh

If he had actually tased the cop and went for the gun the other cop would have shot him way before the he got to the gun.

So the cop should wait until his partner's life is on the cusp of being taken by an aggressive criminal? There are so many unknowns that could alter when that last possible second occurs. You don't wait until your partner is fricking incapacitated and now instead of two on one, it's one on one with your partner completely vulnerable.

Absolutely, but he still shouldn’t have been killed. Dylan Roof and James Holmes were much bigger threats to society and they are still alive.

every time and I mean every time somebody types the words death sentence in the context you've typed them it demonstrates a level of stupidity almost unparalleled

A death sentence is when we ascribe a penalty after a trial

There are lots of activities in life we're if you participate in them you increase your odds of dying. When you die that doesn't mean you received the death sentence. It means something happened to you that you increased the likelihood of occurring significantly.

We don't say that when a person has a skydiving accident that he received the death penalty

You people are fricking three-year-olds

At what point are the police allowed to defend themselves?

Brooks resisted arrest, fought two cops, stole a taser and the pointed it directly at the officer before he fired.

Seriously, I’d like to see how you perceive this sequence legally.
