Yep and elections for the primary are this May/June.
Who ever came up with the rules may have screwed the pooch on the election cycle,
If you look at the SOS Calendar for 2026, the calendar lists 2 qualifying by petition dates. All candidates not running in the Democrat or Republican primaries have to qualify by petition and submit signatures to the registrar of voters. It lists one for the Party Primary date of May 16 as January 14th and other one for the November election as July 1st.
If you read the plus note at the bottom, it says that
So hopefully that means if Cassidy or another independent candidate has done its work and submitted its nomination petitions by now to run as an independent as that deadline has passed.
If it doesn’t, that leaves a window for a party primary loser between the party primaries on May 16 or June 27th for the runoff, a few days to collect nomination petitions and submit them on July 1st to be on the ballot in November as an independent.
Not sure why the SOS just didn’t put N/A in those boxes to alleviate any confusion.

Well...interestingly enough...one of the current candidates in the U.S. Senate race was the author of the closed primary bill that passed.

Fleming > Letlow >>>>>>>>>>>> Cassidy

This just makes the race more crowded and splits the vote against Cassidy further.

That was always mind boggling

I honestly don't think Letlow has any intention of getting in the race. I think with that tweet, President Trump is:
1 - Complementing Letlow. Maybe there's a House vote coming up on something that could split Republicans in Congress, and he needs/wants her on his side.
2 - He's telling Louisiana voters to send him a Republican not named Cassidy to the U.S. Senate this coming election, without picking one of the four current challengers. Fleming worked for him, and they apparently are still on very good terms, but if he picks Fleming over Emerson, he then goes against Gov Landry's team.

Speaking of MIA posters where is Damone?
Warrior Court is also noticeably absent. I suspect he was involuntary institutionalized.

The Republican Primary in May with a Run Off in June is going to interesting.
Cassidy is going to get a minimum of 25%, the other 75% will be where the action is at. You could get 2 other candidates get more than 30% and lock Cassidy out of the Republican runoff.
Primary will consist of only Republicans and individuals registered with No Party affiliation.
Qualifying is next month for the primary race. It will be interesting to see if anyone has second thoughts on a full Republican race that will be held in May. If you saw my earlier post, it will be interesting if a Republican loser or losers chooses to try the independent route, but they are time limited. Since qualifying as an independent requires you to submit nomination petitions to qualify as an independent.
Get the popcorn and sit through millions of dollars of ads for Cassidy for Senate this year.

Yep. And her getting in the race would seal the deal for Cassidy to make the primary runoff.
Now that said…there’s still ZERO way Cassidy should win that primary runoff vs whomever it is as long as the challengers and their voters all get behind and vote for whomever ends up on that primary runoff vs Psycho Bill.

I do hope you meant to put a “to him” in that statement, not to me

If I’m Letlow or whomever, and there’s ad space — my first ad would show HOW MUCH $$$$ Dr. Cassidy has made for himself — and his current overall net worth —- all as a rep of the people
