and now most all American dealerships have ZERO new cars to purchase. I’ve called around to over 20 dealerships and not one has a new car.

I wouldn’t doubt at all that Newsom’s stupid shite is a huge part of it.

It's also known that fires in Taiwan and Japan at chip manufacturing facilities compounded the chip shortage problem
So manufacturers, let's call them competitors, outside of China, suffered fires that stopped them from producing these chips thus increasing the world's dependence on China for said chips?
Not suspicious? Like, not even a little?

I think of the, nice, upper middle class white people I went to school with.
It depends on the person, but they generally look down on the poor white people, who are the most obvious victims of illegal immigration.
And so they embrace illegals, because it lets them feel superior to those poor white people.
I really, as you say, I don’t think that’s going to change.

I don't know if the OP is accurate regarding China, but he is absolutely correct on the supply/demand curve.
A Kia Telluride is going for $10K OVER MSRP. That's unbelievable. The Kia salesman also said it was because of the lack of Super Chips.
If China is indeed the manufacturer of the Super Chips, I'm not understanding why everyone is so quick to cry 'bullsh*t" on the OP.

I was at a tech conference a few weeks ago, and believe me Newsom was the talk of the town. Everyone bitching about California delaying their orders by months.

It's hitting Japanese and European manufacturers too.

China is directly and indirectly responsible for 70% of the chips, and Hauwei has been stockpiling them since Trump stopped selling them ours.
People that cry bullshite are the same ones that cry, "I never thought it would happen to me" and the ones who also say, "My neighbor seemed so nice. I never would have thought he was capable of being a serial killer."
They live in a bubble.

The global supply chain is exceedingly stupid. There are now thirty steps involved in producing a good, and getting it to the customer, and so it’s incredibly vulnerable to disruption. We don’t adequately plan or price for that.
We actually do almost the opposite, adoption of “Just in Time” manufacturing and other “Lean” programs by corporations have created a supply chain with no reserve capacity in the form of warehouse inventory to act as a buffet during periods of disruption in supply.

We could just go back to using old fashioned carbureted engines

have no problem with fewer Americans buying vehicles they can’t afford.
People are still buying cars. They are just paying sticker price and above for the vehicles right now bc there is such a low inventory nationwide. Dealerships are buying new cars at auction to sell as they aren’t getting enough to meet demand. The few they are getting are pre-sold.
When inventory finals hits it will be in a rush. Manufacturers have the vehicles built except for the chips.

Bought a brand new Kia K5 2 weeks ago in Dallas. There were tons of brand new cars.

There is a very real inventory shortage of new vehicles nationwide. That’s fact. The OPis just wrong about why.

No. They’re just paying sticker now

Wouldn't it be COOL, if the U.S. Govt. made policies that helped U.S. Companies...such as having a system that keeps it cheaper to manufacture all parts in the U.S....instead of outsourcing overseas and then Shipping/Flying the parts to the U.S. That way the SUPPLY LINES aren't completely disrupted and keep more Americans working?
That's a cool thought

Yep.
I remember well the "shut down" trains we would run Chicago to St. Paul for the Ford plant. Often they had one car.
The car(s) had likely been bad ordered in need of repair somewhere along the line so missed the regular train. The contract had a huge penalty if they delivered late as the parts went basically right from the cars to the assembly line.
Auto makers are not the only ones doing this obviously, but they are among the most visible.
A lot of companies ship by rail as it is used as mobile warehousing.
