Science actually shows that Neaderthals and Denisovians, and modern humans all evolved.

Sure they all have a common ancestor at some point, but so do fish and humans.

This "discovery" doesn't make me any more creationist.

You left out the end of the quote, Religion is the opium of the people: this saying of Marx is the cornerstone of the entire ideology of Marxism ABOUT RELIGION. That was the part you left out, it is what he said about religion, not the cornerstone of communism. Did you leave it out to try and fool people? Its called cherry picking. Just like what alot of pastors do with the bible to make it sound like whatever they want it to sound like. No one is doubting that Lenin or Marx were athiest. Some very bad people in history were christians also. It sounds like you are scared of things that you do not understand. No one on here is talking about communism but you. I am actually a conservative but do not believe in God, I am not a communist and I am not a bad person. Basically I try to do the best I can and enjoy this life because believe that this is my only life and I am happy.

Doesn't a higher power still have that 'where did it come from' problem too?

That is not really the fundamental question that needs to be asked yes I realize that is my own fault by the fact that I asked the question where did it come from. The hope of that analogy was to show that just to say something exists and no question why it exists or why it is there at all is misplaced and doesn't get at the question we are asking.

My question for the atheists on the board and Christians to is why does the universe exist at all? According to the principle of sufficient reason it must have it's reason in itself or in something else.

No they get much better actually.....Lenin....."athiesm is a natural and inseperable part of Marxism"

You and your ilk are those afraid of free discourse about any issue that doesnt fit your conceptualization of your personal beliefs... I suppose thats why you made an alter to enter this debate

If you will go back and read my first post in this thread, it will be evident. Primarily, atheism is as susceptible to attack as Christianity, with a properly formulated argument.

And so begins the long painful retreat.

Atheism is the rejection of God on the grounds of insufficient evidence. That is all. Atheism in its basic form is no more dangerous or susceptible to attack than a rejection of the existence of minotaurs.

You apply the exact same skepticism towards everything EXCEPT God in your own life. You dismiss things for which you have no physical, tangible reason to believe in.

From someone who believes " Jesus couldn't help you" I appreciate your meager efforts

Athiesm in its basic form may not be dangerous, its the religion attacking varity I like to engage.

I can at least respect somebody who says they don't believe in God. To say that he may exist but he's in the process of being made obsolete?

Wow.

Oh, and this creation that is in the process of outgrowing its maker? We're so smart that we've developed weapons which could destroy us all.

If that happens, I guess we might need Him again

I didn't say everything is running on clockwork, just evolution. Also you think he just said poof there it is and everything was created. That is even less involved.

Nothing embittered me at all and I have no disdain for the religious whatsoever. Almost everyone in my family is still very religious and it doesnt bother me one bit.

However, if you start trying to debate me and defending your position by ignorantly attacking that which you clearly have limited knowledge of I will call you on it.

Atheism is an emperor with no clothes. When followed through logically it is completely incoherent. But very few of those who identify as atheists ever think it through to its logical out workings.

The only things being attacked in this thread are your ignorance and atheism. Trying to convey a lack of belief using evidence and philosophy is not an attack. You are the inly person directly attacking a belief system.
