Even with Slick Willie's impeachment trial, the Senate refused to call live witnesses. GOP Senator Specter bailed out Slick, the same Specter who worked with the Warren Commission. Imagine that!!

Because he lied to congress not because he had the affair. Also, she was an intern and he was in a position of authority over her so that's a grey area.

He was getting BJs from a subordinate, female employee -- on government property, on government time, lied about it under oath (while he was both the chief executive officer of the United Stats AND a licensed attorney) and ultimately encouraged her (although he may have walked it back) to either lie under oath or make a false sworn statement about it.

The implication is that Specter was compromised and would have done as he was told. Outside of the founding itself, and actual shooting wars (and related, e.g. 9/11), the Kennedy Assassination was the most significant single event in U.S. history. So, him carrying the water for Clinton was "no big deal".
