So did you feel the same when they were trying to take action to remove “disinformation” concerning Covid and the 2020 election? Were you down with them having that power? Don’t give them power they will use against you one day.
When they tried to remove disinformation from where? The internet? You do realize the FCC governs the networks, don’t you?

No, it is not a coincidence but a perfectly timed suspension that would prevent ABC from having to explain why he was suspended.

There is a merger going on between two affiliates and Kimmel's numbers are way down.
Kimmel's numbers have been way down for a long time. So yeah, it is a huge coincidence on the timing of all of this if it has nothing to do with what FCC chairman said.

Except the government didn't do this.
I agree, however . . .
This is a moment when Trump should have left his phone in his pocket - he also should not have Carr out talking about it.
The left would be burying themselves right now if they just would have shut up and let private enterprise take care of these things.
We’ll see how it plays out.

It is beyond dispute at this point that the government pressured social media companies to censor and adjudicate Covid-related posts.
Just because it’s in a different medium does not change the fundamental issue.

Did Carr say that because he didn’t like it, or did Carr say that because it was obviously passed off as legit news when every bit of available evidence proved it false. So, Kimmel knew he was perpetuating a falsehood in a national story about political assassinations.
I think that distinction might be important, especially if Kimmel was given the opportunity to correct his statement and he refused to do so.

So, a late night talk show host is “news” now?
Good lord, I can not keep up with the changes in definitions.

I agree it was terrible what the Biden administration did

I agree.
However, it looks like suspect now because they were out talking about it the same day.
I just read where Kimmel refused to apologize and was about to say his words were twisted and attack even more before being suspended.
He would have been crucified.
Talking about it in public give them an “in” with Democrats (and with free-speech Republicans).
Some of you may not want to hear it, but it’s true.

FIFY.
You people can’t get it through your heads that our objection is not with the result.
It’s with the process, and that it just means it can be used again when the parties change.

I thought this was over a merger that emphasizes both viewpoints must be represented under FCC?
An FCC license requires both political viewpoints must be equally represented, unless its a news program. Carr at FCC said they should look at The View. Over one period reviewed they had 63 liberals, including 8 candidates.....and not one conservative.

The timing is so perfect it has every body talking about everything but the real reason he was fired.

That's exactly what the FBI did with Twitter.

I get what he's trying to do. I'm still going to like Ted Cruz over the long haul.
But, there must be an admission this was a business decision and it is only the timing they are choosing makes this political.
For that matter, Kimmel could have been apolitical. Or attacked both sides. Or kept his fricking mouth shut until Charlie was in the ground.
Kimmel and ABC chose now to try to hurt Trump.
Period.
The FCC chairman told them they could deal with it the easy way or the hard way. That's actually worse than Biden & co telling Facebook to quit allowing discussion on covid. You're made cause Trump was criticized by a late night show host. Hell, Kimmel didn't even criticize Kirk.

The part that confounds me is that the FCC does have legitimate regulatory rules and frameworks pertaining to the actual content itself on public airwaves. It seems to be true that they basically have ignored it over time, but the rules still do exist.
Posted on 9/19/25 at 2:12 pm to bigjoe1
I see way too much of Ted Cruz is comments to media, Twitter, podcasts, etc. for me to not see much evidence of any leadership exhibited in Congress.
Posted on 9/19/25 at 2:13 pm to deltadummy
Well, Kimmel broke the FCC rules. Either the FCC was going to deal with him or ABC would. That is not why he was fired, though.

did use his phony preachers cadence when he said it, he'll walk this back as quick as he did his insurrection comment back after j6.

So it's just a big coincidence that ABC decided to suspend Kimmel on Thursday for comments he made on a show Monday night, and the suspension only came after the FCC said this on Wednesday?
No, it was not a conindence.
He said his dumb shite. The affiliates refused to air his show any more because they were losing advertisers over it.
Then ABC saw what he was going to say next and said, NO WAY JIMMY!
Not to mention, he was a loser to begin with and his show was already failing.

Literally didn't break a single FCC rule.
