The whole point is because DEI is a thing means you have to wonder forever now.
It should not be a thing so we all know things get done on merit and no other reason.
The folks that have meritoriously advanced but fall into a DEI category will never get the proper respect now because of DEI programs.
Plus, on the other side of the coin...
every time something goes wrong like in this case you now have to wonder whether they got there on merit or because of DEI.
Its a no win terrible rascist, sexist bs policy

F35's with vertical take-off and landing can be very tricky. At Fort Rucker about 50% of fixed wing pilots washed out of helicopter school.
Time will tell, but no need to jump to conclusions just yet.

That's why Clarence Thomas doesn't like affirmative action. He actually earned it, but because he is black the assumption of him being an affirmative action recipient is always there.

So this plane F35B had just left Fort Worth and was ferrying to Edwards and stopped for fuel.
From this article the tower gave him permission to zoom climb to 20,000ft. Pilot said he promised guys on the deck that he would do a short takeoff. There are 2 still shots in the article showing the plane in short take off mode. These things pretty much fly themselves when they are in these modes. He didn't have much time to punch out being that low.
In 12/22 a Lockheed Martin test pilot crashed one here in Fort Worth. He bounced it a bit and it got on it's front nose gear and as the aft end bounced off the ground, then it all want to crap.
I suspect this was also a LM test pilot if they were ferrying it to Edwards. Especially since LM has not been making any deliveries for almost a year waiting for software updates that the DoD want. There have been delays on the software from L3 and it has halted deliveries since July or there abouts. I'll see if I can find out anything else today.

Yeah, how do they know it was a DEI hire. I don't support DEI, but this seems like a stretch.

quote:Agreed. However, unless you've ever dealt with a DEI hire on a project for an extended period of time (3 months), it's hard to appreciate the angst and anticipation of getting more ammunition to deep-six this entire cancerous initiative. How in the world did this mega-regressive program get off the ground in the first place?

You can thank affirmative action for this. When you lower standards for one group, diminished standards will always be a suspect.
