I guess elected prosecutors no longer have prosecutorial discretion in Florida.

Power without accountability isn't something I'd expect DeSantis detractors to support.

He was fairly clear that Warren answers to state law and to the people.

It was the second time he was impeached, and acquitted. It's an extension of repeated attempts to dismiss the people who elected him knowing his policies.

I'm just wondering how far "the people" goes for you.

So in Florida... the DA (what this is) is elected, can't be impeached or recalled... but can be suspended by the governor.

And I thought the LA constitution was trash...

Sure, I’m in favor of officials who get elected vs those who lose elections

I am Also think prosecutorial discretion is legitimate and incising an insurrection is illegal.

What's funny is that you know that, but Warren apparently doesn't.

Donald Trump was the elected president of this country both times Democrats voted to impeach him. It doesn't matter how you feel about the dude. Those are the facts.

Prosecutorial overreach isn't something that should be ignored.

What was illegal? Because he was acquitted, while you're sitting up there preaching about the institutions in this country.

Here is the problem. Warren sign some statements saying that he does not intend to prosecute certain types of cases, but there is no evidence that such a case has come before him and that he has refused to prosecute it. Here is the Constitutional authorization for suspension:
quote:

art.IV, sec.1(a)
the governor may suspend from office any ... officer ... for malfeasance, misfeasance, neglect of duty, drunkenness, incompetence, permanent inability to perform official duties, or commission of a felony....
Can Desantis suspend Warren BEFORE he has actually refused to prosecute an actual case, solely on the basis that Warren stated an intent not to do so if such a case arises? I don't see anything saying that an elected official may be suspended IN ANTICIPATION that he MAY engage in (e.g.) neglect of his duties.

Where are you seeing the State Attorney hasn't done this? His words were back in June?
