It may not matter if Trump takes the blame for a recession or crash. We have $36 trillion in debt, adding a trillion every 100 days, terrible deficit situation, $1 trillion personal credit card debt, and inflation is already a problem (so you can't just print to success). I don't know how Trump gets us out of this.

How will the Democrats be able to sell themselves as the saviors of this situation?

Voters punish the presiding party over bad economies (see: 2024).

Blaming the present economic situation on the presiding administration in itself is not rational, but dealing with irrational participants is an inefficiency of democracy.

I feel like you are clinging to a conventional wisdom narrative that may no longer exist.

I think 2024 showed it still applies bigly.

Which post in this thread had this quote?

Everyone knows the economy has been shite. Now the Trump Administration just has to show how Biden and company was lying about the numbers.

Was lying? Don't you mean be lying?

According to that chart the fall off started in 2021 or so. Wonder why that hasn't been front page news until now?

What has changed... I can't quite put my finger on it. I hope Trump is an economic wizard because the press won't be cheerleading any little nugget of good news. In fact, they will be doomsdaying everything.

They won't. Expect weekly press conferences and tweets showing how much Bidenomics fricked the economy. Show the lies, the 8 billion for 3 charging stations. This is actually the perfect opportunity to crush the Democrats because they no longer control the narrative. All Trump has to do is show how much Biden and company were lying about the economy and how bad of a situation they put us in. Basically just tell the truth.

What will democrats be able to sell as the fix for this and more importantly how do they sell this as the republicans fault in conjunction with this mythical fix?

They'll blame Trump and start pushing for draconian measures, like taking wealth.

Presumably, Trump knew the situation going into the election.
He claimed he could fix it.

Was he lying about fixing it? Or was he so stupid he didn't know?

What does it matter what the past 4 years have been? Will Trump fix it for the next 4, or not?

This makes it worse for Democrats now. When they were in power they could hide and manipulate the truth. Now Trump has a chance to pull back the curtain and slit their throat and watch them bleed out

Unemployment is the big variable. If that cranks up, the private version of printing is going to really hurt. All of the debt-based enhancement of SOL for private parties can't keep them safe, either. Those home values start to decline (like we all know is necessary) and shite gets real, real quick.

You think the public is going to tolerate press conferences where Trump is blaming everyone else while things are crashing? You guys are delusional.

And I didn't even touch on things like if housing goes bad. Or, like you have pointed out, the car market.

It's "Republicans fault" because they presided over it.

Remember these stickers?

How did the GOP/MAGA sell those 2021 economies as Democrats fault?

DEMs can just spin whatever silliness they always do. "Economy for the working man, not the billionaire". shite like that (especially with Trump's admin)

1. Housing
2. Commercial Real Estate
3 Credit Cards
4. Auto Loans

Any of those 4 can put severe pressure on banks, and when that happens, shite can escalate very quickly without federal monetary injections (remember Silicon Valley Bank?)

Its worse than they were telling you. Show the lies and manipulated numbers. I am sure they will be alot more discovered once we get a look at the books. All that needs to be shown to the American people. Trump will fix it but it was so bad they hid it from the American public.

You fig - they literally change the the definition of what a recession is because they media didn’t want to say Biden has us in recession -

So what you are saying is that the economy has been so bad the last few years that stocks haven’t been breaking records, unemployment is damn low, vacation and tourist destinations haven’t been jam packed?

Define what a really bad economy looks like come to the last three years?
