Hold up a minute there Hank. You come on here and discuss issues like you're a supreme court justice but now you're expecting us to believe you don't know what the blue check is for... lmao

Which is sort of ironic considering most of them don't actually work for a living.

You seem to be saying that blue checks became the province of the Left. Were blue checks denied to posters on the Right? Or did they (as a group) not really seek them?
Why don't you educate yourself a little Hanky? Blue check marks came pretty much automatically if you were high profile enough, especially if you spouted the marxist democrat agenda. To this day there are high profile conservatives and republicans who have been unable to get the verified check mark, even when they have asked for it.
Your willful ignorance isn't fooling anyone.

I did. All I found was the nonsense of having your identity verified/confirmed.
I guess I just do not see any tangible benefit in that.
Ooga has arrived, so the thread will now become totally worthless. I appreciate those who tried to help.
Hank - mainly the blue checkmark is seen as a status thing. Yeah, I think there are a few benefits to it regarding editing or whatever, but it's mainly a "look I'm a big deal, I have a blue checkmark" thing. And there are guilty parties on the left and the right.
edit - to answer your other question, twitter has historically been far more likely to blue checkmark a leftist account or poster to make it seem like that "viewpoint" is more valid or whatever, while denying the checkmark to some on the right (definitely not ALL on the right - there are tons of conservative pages that have checkmarks too...but the threat of removal is always hanging over them).

Blue check mark was previously admission to being a liberal media scumbag. Now they will have to pay to have that title

Progs, morphed the meaning into a "your views are acceptable" title... separating (in their warped, demented minds) fake news people from real news people.
No they didn’t. All famous people have blue checks. It is and has always been about verifying that the famous person isn’t a fake account trying to be said famous person.
Ben Shapiro posts and they don’t see his views as acceptable. Has nothing to do with political views.

Why don't you educate yourself … ?
An intelligent person recognizes when he lacks knowledge in a given area and is willing to ask questions of those with more knowledge.
Posters here obviously find Twitter more interesting than I and have amassed more knowledge. Hence the questions.

There was some semi-famous actress on the Gutfeld show the other night and she was all for paying for the checkmark as she said the current system requires they continue to prove they are who they say they are. She claimed she was having to send info every month due to people trying to claim to be her.

I sought one and was denied. My profile was heavy pro-LEO because the work I do is in that arena. There was zero reason to deny me. None.
Hopefully the change in ownership will level the field.

No you're just shitting up yet another thread, asking questions that only the willfully ignorant would ask.
I have been on twatter for several years, with probably less than 300 tweets, because the place is a cesspool. But even if I wasn't, I would have to try very hard to be ignorant of the issues at hand here. It's not like censorship, discrimination, and government frickery are a brand new issue with twatter. I have no doubt you have posted in dozens if not hundreds of threads about twitter already. Now you want to play dumb.
