Why not just for a year and get the southern border secure and see where we stand? Or just halt it altogether for a year. No matter, just let the immigration shite get under control and/or reformed

You could almost define globalism with this sentence and it's mind-numbingly stupid. The decay of middle America, the increase in subsistence poverty and homelessness, the unhealthy economic strain of off-shoring nearly all industry and resources and the subsequent war and chaos it drives... all to push a stock price the benefits fewer and fewer with every passing year, it's unsustainable and covid was an interesting test case in many of the reasons why. A nation that screws its own in the name of greed is a nation that will collapse.

You know that 5x as many deceptive Elon versus Trump H1B posts have gone up during that time (and since)?

Or perhaps Musk got called to the mat for his BS and changed his tune, which is actually what happened.

Some of you are so blind that when your guy completely changes their stance like Trump due to external pressure, your responses are “See, that’s not what he said”.

If anything, this push back should show the power the base has against these billionaires trying to slip in shite to help themselves against the average Americans interests. But no, it’s all just a bunch of people ignoring that our guy is a genius with no bad takes.

I agree. I think he changes his tune.

Why did he change his tune? he realized MAGA isn't with him on this.

Now, let's see his actions.....

It was the pussy's on here saying "nooo, don't argue" or "this is some liberal psyop to get us to fight".
No, Elon told us what we would like and he let him know we aren't ok with it.

I've never agreed with Trump on everything and won't with Elon.

They both saw last week that the base wasn't having this.

All bullshite reform talk from Elon. He has proved full of shite on this issue. If he believed any of this or had any good intentions, he would have rocketed H1B pay by now. He is full of shite.

We shall see right? Look at how much we've all learned the last few days about the program.

I never knew you could see all H1B job reqs. We can watch him and everyone else to see if they follow through.

I believe there would be a large number of Americans that can easily fill these positions given the chance

We have way too many social engineers.

I'm agreeing with you and Elon fwiw. I wish we had enough stem folks to go around but we don't.

This is patently false. There are plenty of Americans in the STEM fields. In fact, many struggling to find jobs.

Simply put, they aren’t being offered the jobs or are offered them at underpaid wages. This discourages people from these fields.

Again, H1B visas are not meant to bring in a foreigner with a bachelors or MS in Comp Sci. They are supposed to be for the highly trained (think PhDs or MSs in underserved areas) to help fill gaps.

This isn’t filling gaps anymore. It’s buying cheaper labor they can control with threats on their legal status.

This is stupid. Legal immigration needs reform, sure, but this is not some breached damn like illegal immigration has been. You can streamline legal immigration without shutting it down.

Illegal immigration shouldn’t exist, so shutting it down is required. H1B visas are a problem in how they are used not their existence. Punish companies for abusing them and make their rules enforced. That’s all.

H1Bs are not the immigration hill to die on. It is the worthless masses entering illegally.

Are they? I've had a terrible time filling out a team in the US because of ridiculously high wage demands and lack of candidates....

Oh wait wages for my positions must not be good enough we're only offering 100k with benefits for engineers.....

What do these unemployable stem folks have degrees or skillsets in? Everyone I know with a stem skills is employed if they are good employees. My friends who can't function on a team, communicate, show up on time, work hard etc are the ones without jobs regardless of skills..

What field? That makes a difference.

As does the type of job. There is a difference in your refusing to pay a competitive wage and unrealistic demands. Perhaps you are the one focusing on what you can get with a foreign worker and then saying that sets your salary offers for Americans. That’s not how it works.

There are plenty of shitty candidates out there. I am not saying there are not. You are acting like finding a good worker is impossible, which is false.

I see this with multiple companies. Horrible work environment, shitty leadership and management that refuses to adjust to the times, and then blames the workers for having to off shore things.

It has as much to do with refusal by industries to adapt as it does with shitty employees.

Where do they live? Because in many parts of the country, 100K is significantly below market value for an engineer.
