Yep. We punish bartenders for "over serving", but happily ignore federal law.
There IS NO federal law mandating that state/local governments nor detainer requests.

There is a solution to that problem. Congress could pass a federal law

Instead of beating the dead horse of "actuyalaalylly, i'm an attorney", why not just tell us what we need to know?

Is ignoring the detainer any sort of crime? Bureaucratic faux pas? etc. How SHOULD we be thinking about it?

Please cite the criminal statute that you contend was violated by Fairfax County, the prosecutor or the judge.

Lets start with this one: 8 USC 1324

If an illegal would go missing. Would anyone look for him?Would there be any records to identify him? These are the questions the family of the victim should be asking.

Felony harboring and aiding a dangerous criminal resulting in a homicide.

Asking questions that lead the listeners to finding the answers for himself is called the Socratic Method. But I DID do exactly as you suggest.

Again, failure to comply with a federal immigration detainer is NOT a violation of any law. Such detainers are essentially a matter of courtesy between two law enforcement agencies.

Here, the repercussions of failure to grant that courtesy were severe in the extreme. The voting public in Fairfax should be made fully aware of that failure and its result.

This suggestion is too silly to warrant serious discussion.

He’s not an attorney. He posted his “class year” which can be looked up.

Tell that to the judge who is on trial now for helping a criminal alien escape ICE.

You might want to review the case law under that statute.

The statute allows the feds and local agencies to enter into agreements by which the participating agencies become (in effect) deputized to assist in immigration enforcement. It does NOT require any local agency to do so.

Based Bandita
@BasedBandita
Among the top LSAT scorers (170 or above), 82.5% are White, 15.6% are Asian, 1.6% are Hispanic, and 0.3% are Black.

Approximately 80% of all U.S. Attorneys are White.

Of Biden’s 200 federal judges, 37% were White, 42% mix of Hispanic and black, and 14% Asian.

It’s blatantly obvious as to what Democrats intentionally forced here.
