Btw, it was revealed to me that the attorneys all know each other and that affects how they act. They have hesitation to push even if you have all the cards because they don’t want to be on the receiving end when they have clients with weaker cases.
Also note that attorneys that are not in the clique may not be treated so well by the judges. Take that into consideration in regards to attorneys that don’t regularly practice family law in the jurisdiction.
It’s all bullshite and I’m sorry, but that’s what I have learned and I hope to save the kids some heartache.

Generally true, especially in the medium-sized parishes.

Yeah that’s the crux of it. The judges and attorneys are friends by and large. What is best for you and yours is potentially secondary. Hope you find what you are looking for. Wouldn’t be bad to work on mitigating measures should that attorney never present themselves.
Don’t wait too long looking either if the opposition is active. It’s hard as frick to undo established precedent once it is set.

Don’t even consider Family Court for the Lawyer’s “Grandparents Visitation Rights “ internet troll bs. It’s a hustle. Judges will not get in deep but for the most criminally egregious of cases as they know they will lose votes on one side of the family.

Grandparents are good to kids on both sides thank goodness, they don’t need to go to court to see kids. They are denial about addiction stuff but once she drains their accounts the way she did ours - that will be a good wake up call.

Another identifier.. lets say I were to say yes, to both, with drs notes, pictures, and witnesses. All theoretical of course.
Also (theoretically) why I didn’t think things would be this difficult.
The other attorney keeps saying none of it is real & no one seems to want to look at the paperwork.

the family court system is riddled with female judges. Who do you think they are siding with? It is down right criminal at the biases these female judges have and go to nail the male every chance they get.
I'm dealing with St. Tammany Parish Family Courts and it's no picnic.

Just read the thread- that guy is going to be fine- family court doesn’t care about cheating. Sad but true. He’ll have their kids sleeping at the neighbors in no time.

Physical abuse is grounds for immediate divorce in Louisiana, with zero alimony in favor of the offending spouse.

Physical abuse also is grounds for limiting visitation to supervised until the offending party completes a DVIP.
A multi-panel nail follicle drug test should be requested. Those are pretty standard everywhere.

Jeeze, man that sucks. In a rare moment of seriousness from me here, I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. Addiction in a spouse will legit tear a family apart, I've seen it myself with my sister and her former (now deceased) husband.
