AM radio is hands down the most reliable and expansive coverage of any terrestrial radio broadcast. Something seems fricky here....I'm probably just an old paranoid "Boomer."
I would keep a small AM/FM radio for these situations because you're right.
Sure, AM for commercial radio is kinda going its way of the dodo but for emergency broadcasts you can't get any better. It's simple, cheap, and effective.

Buy another brand of vehicle or put in aftermarket radio with AM.

As if I needed another reason to not buy a Ford. Well, other than a used mid 2000's Ranger.

download Spotify app. You can choose from darn near anyone you want such as Joe Rogan
Except for folks that listen to AM because they live in BFE, and streaming content is not even a concept.

There are very few markets/cities nationally where AM radio has any listener impact, whatsoever.
Not true at all. Even here in ATL, the sports stations that simulcast on AM & FM, there is plenty of audience on AM. The signal strength sucks donkey arse on FM and after a certain time of day, you can't even pick it up just 30 miles out of town.
Not everywhere has great streaming access. Sure, the world is moving away from it, but it's not dead. It is the format that most emergency notifications systems work, too. Seems to be a dumb idea.

Which brings me to my next point, stop buying new vehicles

I'm not so much worried about AM radio as I am about having a 6+ disc CD changer. That is the goat audio option.

I listen to all my Music via my iPhone hooked to my radio. Only time I turn FM on is to listen to a game.
I really think this EV thing will die away. It's not a sustainable resource for switching anyway.

If Ford continues on its intended trajectory, only government funding will keep that company alive.
I grew up in a Ford dealership. 4 generations.
I was so proud of Ford when Alan Mulally led Ford's turnaround and refused the government bailout publicly Congress.
But no more. Bad quality. Even worse vision.
I have a lot of friends in the auto business, many Ford dealers. But, unless they have a literal revival I am out. I have bought my last Ford.
My great-grandfather, grandfather and father, all Ford dealers must be looking down ashamed of what they see.

I am reminded of my days in St. Louis back in early 60's trying to listen to LSU football on Sat nites. 870 was my prime target and I'd load up the car and drive the wife and kids all around the area trying to find some tolerable reception.
Once, while on the way home from work, I was just rotating thru the dial while crossing some railroad tracks - and a station I recognized came thru loud and clear. It was some station in Shreveport - (forget the call sign now) - but for the next couple years of our residence there, I would be practically straddling the RR tracks during Saturday nites. (found a back road that crossed the tracks so I'd only have to move away from the roadway when a train was coming. - wife didn't care for that much.)
I thought my dad was crazy for sitting in the driveway to listen to 870 in the driveway when I was a kid. But that was pretty sane compared to your completely batshit crazy story. I trust she divorced you and got sole custody pretty quickly.

Toyota's new Chairman put the kibosh on EV's, scrapping a decade of infrastructure planning thst may have negative consequences for a TN assembly plant. Guy's got balls.

Most AM stations will be carried as an FM HD alternative by their parent companies if I had to guess.

You know what "Ford" stands for? "Fix It Again, Tony."

Do they have phones?
Why is it so hard to comprehend that not everywhere has data speeds? Or that people have unlimited plans?
There are a shite ton of places today, in 2023, where you cannot even check the weather app, let alone stream something. My parents live in one of those areas.
