This is good for Trump.
I think the optics of the first black president being indicted by a bunch of white lawyers and doj officials wouldn't be good politically for trump.

would juice black turnout imo.

When Trump says that Obama and Biden committed crimes.

The AG contradicts him by saying they won't be investigated.

Obama and Biden may have committed crimes, but they're too high profile to prosecute on "may have". plus the press will spin it into political prosecutions. taking them off the table guts the "political prosecution" narrative while losing little (due to the risky nature of the likelihood of convicting Obama or Biden)

If Barr ascribes to Trump's thinking that Obama/Biden broke the law, then he's saying that they are now Above the Law.

they clearly are, especially with the media filtering information to the majority of the country

same with Hillary

Hard to grasp how bad team trump has been setting the PR for the last 3+ years

I have no doubt Biden will unleash his justice department on trump if he wins so I don’t understand why Barr wouldn’t just say let the facts go where they go, You would think trump isn’t dumb and would realize not to trust folks like comey who told him he wasn’t a target are Those some type of folks now telling him to be cool with their ongoing investigation and let’s just wait this out and don’t declassify a bunch of stuff. In the meantime, Obama Biden polls numbers rise since they get no negative pushback

at some of you guys thinking that precedent matters to these people.

You might as well get your licks in first, because the Dems are not going to play by any rules, established or unwritten.

I am seriously disappointed in some of you idiots.

you truly thought john durham was going to indict Obama? How delusional are you people?

This is what happens when you don't actually read news articles and get your info from headlines and fake sites.

Be better, people!

If true, i hope the Trump administration is tapping wires and developing a plan to take down the next incoming president with years of harassment, investigations, and leaks.

I don't think an ex President or VP would ever be indicted for a crime. And It would be almost impossible to prove.

What Barr is saying that it also would be too divisive.

It's political folks. Go vote and get all of your friends and family to vote.

This shouldn't be shocking. TBH, I don't know what crimes Obama or Biden could be charged with. Anyone have an answer to this? The unmasking request of Mike Flynn are not illegal. Unethical? Sure. Abuse of power? Sure. But there is no law against that.

They also do not want to set the precedent of a former president being prosecuted after leaving office. Would make it difficult for future presidents to perform the duties of the presidency if every decision had to be weighed on whether it could be construed by the opposition party as something prosecutable even if it was legal at the time. Just an extension of the reason a president is immune from prosecution while in office.

On the first page of this thread, you were gloating that this means you are right that nothing will happen to anybody

But Barr literally says today that there are people under criminal investigation

I've said from day 1 that no "big fish" will ever get hooked and booked.

I'll wager that even the small fish will never see the inside of a courtroom. There isn't a grand jury in DC that will ever indict these people.

Grow up, Peter Pan. This is reality.

Yeah, I think it's folly to believe Obama or Biden would be pursued criminally. But, somebody in the FBI needs to pay for the frickery on Flynn, preferably Strzok. I hope somebody can prove Brennan ran an intel op with foreign agencies, but I'm not holding out hope on that.

All,

You need to listen to Barr before posting here.

He said that others are being looked at for breaking the law in a criminal way.

But, the big thing he said was that just because someone "Abused their Power doesn't necessarily mean they broke the law"

He said they will only bring charges if they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt of criminal law breaking.

He said from what he knows RIGHT NOW, that neither Obama or Biden are being looked at for criminal charges.

-That means that there is nothing today that shows either man could be charged with something that he can prove.
