I’ve long thought NATO has outlived its usefulness but we don’t fund their militaries through NATO. That’s not how it works.
The better complaint would be, the Europeans have been allowed to cheap out on military spending for generations because they knew Daddy would come save them. They spend all their money on entitlements all the while insulting the USA. And then the liberal in America whine and say “why can’t we have healthcare like Denmark!”

The French miscalculated. They built the Manginot line which was heavily fortified to force the Germans to invade through Belgium in order to give France time to move troops. They didn’t fortify the Ardennes Forest thinking the Germans couldn’t get through the thick forest. Well, that’s exactly what the Germans did and they flanked the French military. It was a brilliant move by the Germans
France has won more wars than any nation on earth. But it’s still fun to make fun of them.
It saddens me to see France the way it is today moreso than the UK. UK has always been authoritarian shitheads. French historically are more freedom loving and heavily influenced the founding principles of the U.S.
