quote:i just called my 23 year old liberal college educated daughter and asked who the combatants were in ww2 and she says she didn't know what that word meant. I asked her where pearl harbor was and she said that's where they dumped the tea. I will call my son later and hope I haven't completely failed as a parent.
They must filter out all the right answers. I have teenage kids and they unquestionably know the answer to everyone of those questions.

What? I couldn’t remember the specifics of the atrocities of Pol Pot or the conquests of Alexander the Great… but I could tell you the answers of all those questions easily.

I don’t understand the constant bashing of the Baby Boomer generation here
Why is there ever a reason to place blame? When there is failure.
And rarely does anyone accept blame for failure. They pass it on.
One second it’s “Haha!!! Boomers are so dumb about robotics! AI!! Automation!! Programming!! Welcome to the new world!!” And the next second it’s, “The new world is haaaaard! Boomers bought homes by turning in bottles for refunds and finding nickels on the sidewalk! Ugggh!! I need another 10 dollar coffee!!”
Now rain down the downvotes!! “How dare you!! My boomer parents won’t hand me money on demand!!

Look at the leadership of this country and what they’ve done to the education system.
You can’t blame kids for not being taught anything. It’s their parents and the boomers in charge of laws that are creating these monster’s.

Everything is multivariate and no one thing explains why most Americans are the way they are these days but part of it is learned from their predecessors

Not giving a shite about history or poltics is one thing. Not having basic knowledge of the world you live in is a whole different thing!
How does an alert human not know what Memorial Day is, don't you see all the flags, all the commercials on TV, social media and radio, it is just incomprehensible.
I saw something similar where they didn't know who fought in the Civil War, who bombed Pearl Harbor, or who we were fighting in WWII. I mean really, how does someone who has at least an ounce of awareness not know these things??

I mean, that's expected that there's idiots out there like this. We've all seen these types of videos before, but she probably asked those questions to 100 or more people and then cherry picked the responses to post the video she wanted.
That said, I blame both the parents and schools of those young adults for their inherently stupid responses.

I graduated college before common core was around. You sound like an aggrieved boomer.
