So i get it.....allow them to tariff us, and we should not tariff them.

We cannot control what others do. If they wanna sabotage themselves thats their citizens that should be complaining. It isnt productive for us to kneecap our businesses which provide a higher standard of living for employees because people in Vietnam have to pay a tariff on US made golf clubs (that most cant afford anyway).
Trying to make tariffs to balance trade between us and countries with $2 minimum wage is just impossible, yet thats how the reciprocal tariffs were calculated.
In what world will the average vietnamese citizen be able to afford American goods with our $40 pairs of jeans and $350 sunglasses?
None. We shouldn't want balanced trade with every country. That would mean we are going down to their level.

not sure. i'm just speaking for my company. higher tariffs means less profit and therefore less growth. i cannot pass on the entire tariff amount to my customers if it goes back to 25% or 50%. just the reality of the industry i am in.

Be specific with your point. Not vague, don’t make all encompassing statements - be specific.

What happened during Biden's term? Biden not only embraced Trump's first term tariffs, but he expanded them.
You cant bring facts into these conversations.

Ive yet to see anyone in this thread call Bidens tariffs good.
They were bad too. The fact Biden did the same should be a sign for those of you that are celebrating them.

Actually, yes.

These tarrifs under section 122 are also likely illegal. But they will expire in 150 days, which is faster than the Court can strike them down, anyway.
The statute allows POTUS to enact a tarrif of up to 15% to address "balance of payment" deficits. BOP deficits are not the same as trade deficits. In measuring BOP, trade deficits are offset by foreign money flowing back into the US. Economists are currently falling all over themselves to figure out what any of this means, but it seems unlikely we really have any serious BOP issues at this time.
But dont worry, tariff fans....by the time the 150 days are up, Trump will no doubt have received the financial reports necessary to invoke section 301, which gives him plenty of tariff power.

How is it "owning the libs?"
The closest I can get to an attitude like that is the sentiment that gets posted here all the time referring to idiot policies of the left.
They voted for it, let them suffer.
The problem is that the idiots who think this is a good thing won't admit the suffering. Not even when you show them the data.

Hey, everyone, let's let other countries continue to abuse us through unfair trade advantages
The idea that collecting taxes = fairness is classic democrat thinking. Bernie and AOC continue to win bigly.

There's a really easy way to end this. Tell other countries to drop their tariffs on our exports and level the playing field.

That's been my question for the past two days, only I say 10,000%.
If tariffs are all paid by foreign producers and a 15% tariff generates enough money to pay the debt, send everybody a stimulus check, and replace income tax, why the hell should we stop at 15%?
Like I said in the other thread, get out the Dr. Emmet Brown/Marty McFly guitar amp, plug in, and hit that G chord with the volume on 11 with the metal pick.
Quit assing around. With a 10,000% tariff everybody in the country would be rich.

Is that why we hit a 15 year high for business bankruptcies last year, highest since the 2008 collapse?

Tariffs are not good for my business. I’ve explained this.
