I work in IT as well. If I told my supervisor that we 'lost' every single email that's being requested. I'd be fired.
that gets you a promotion in government work

Our IT guys said the same thing. It's never "gone" gone.
It's never gone unless the administrator deletes it off the server. Which, as an administrator, is something I never ever do. shite man I have some backups that date back to 2002 and 2003, when I was still in college.

Yep, them "losing" incriminating emails is a joke of the highest order.

I'm willing to bet that, if the government needed to find one of my permanently deleted emails to prosecute me for anything at all, they would recover those emails within a day.

If they didn’t reformat or change hard drives, I’m sure they will find those emails in: C:\Users\Lois\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst or archive.pst

frick this administration and frick the IRS. That agency needs to go away. I want them all fired and without paychecks. I want them to not be able to put food on their tables and lose their homes.

I'm getting the feeling you don't like the IRS???

Just a big cover up. You mean to tell me all of the computers of the email senders and the email receivers plus the servers the emails went across are all erased by accident. Sure that makes sense.

The institution that is in charge of taking my money directly targets it's political enemies and then blatantly covers up the paper trail. And we all know absolutely nothing will come of it. Not a single person will do jail time. It's sickening and it goes against everything a free society should hold dear. I ha en more respect for terrorists. At least they admit their our enemies. As far as I'm concerned the IRS is an agency of traitors at this point.

Too bad they can't be charged with treason.
You've got one of, if not the most powerful agency in this country targeting individuals. Everyone involved should face a firing squad.

Do those people think everyone is a fool to believe that?
Not everyone, just most of the public. Soon people like Rex and Spidermantuba will be on here explaining how and why it is possible to lose emails.

Along with others who don't pay a lick of taxes.
I'm assuming I can tell the IRS on 4/15/15 that my computer crashed, so the ridic amount in taxes my household is responsible for paying won't be paid this year.
Think that will work?

Have been notable by their absence from any of the "lost emails" threads.

Hold on there - Hillary was in the administration and she is very good at losing incriminating stuff.
It will turn up in her parlor after a few years.

FWIW, their explanation for Lerner is that they kept 6 months on servers and then recycled it. Any pertinent business emails were to be printed and/or saved on their personal hard drive. There was also a 500MB size limit for inboxes. Her computer crashed and they couldn't recover anything.

I think one can infer that by lost they mean: intentionally deleted and we are not going to look for the selections unless ordered to by a court of competent jurisdiction.

Y'all do realize there were 22 million White House emails "lost" when Bush was President, right? They were later recovered.
That's not to say this incident isn't fishy, but it isn't anything new.
