Most Southerners didnt own slaves.

Dont give a shite what the war was about 170 years ago, its over. There are no slaves, we havent had segregation in 70 years.

Time for people to crawl out from under their rocks and join the modern world.

slavery was a huge part of why the civil war started and was fought. It was a huge issue at the time and the one issue that was worth fighting over.

Curious, that no other country had a war over slavery.

Lincoln's issue was binding the union with bayonets.

Slavery was a large part of it. But not the sole reason. It was state rights and fed government dictating to states

Not many people owned land let alone slaves in the south. Yet non slave owners and non land owners were willing to fight the north…….

Slavery was a massive part of it, and several states even declared that to be the cause.

You have to understand that slavery was what allowed large scale farming operations in the South. There were no John Deere tractors. If slavery was taken away, the Southern agrarian economy was at risk of collapse. That's worth fighting over.

But you can't view slavery solely though today's lens. In today's world, slavery doesn't make sense. It isn't needed. But back then it was a matter of survival for the farming economy. It was very important.
