Were you sick before, and that's why you want the A/B test?
Yes. I was sick in January. I had all the symptoms. I’m in business with my dad so I see him a lot. He was sick after me. He took the flu test twice and was negative. I made him take it the second time
BC I didn’t believe him and he was so damn grouchy and miserable.
I think we both had it. My dad is in his 70s. He took longer to get over it. Partially bc men are gigantic babies when they are sick. But now I’m concerned that it was bc he’s in the at risk age group. If I test positive, I want him to get tested too, so I can stop being panicked that my parents will get it and have to go on a ventilator and my sister and I can’t see them.
That to me is the worst part about the older people having it. They are at deaths door & their families can’t be there with them

More stats for you Bob:
From Jan 1 - March 31 worldwide stats
41,000 died of Covid-19
121,000 died of the common flu where is all the concern?
76,000 mothers giving birth or abortions (shame on you Libtards) should we ban having babies?
240,000 died of Malaria where is all the concern?
417,000 died from HIV/Aids where is all the concern?
400,000 died from car accidents should we ban driving?
600,000 from alcohol
1,000,0000 from Cancer
2.4 million from hunger why not live normal life and give the $2 billion to feed hungry people?
H1N1 was worse but hardly a peep.
Yes, lets make this political you frigging assholes.

Getting back to the topic. Yes, a few of my friends took the test and did test positive as they were sick in Dec and Jan, some in Feb.
I was in Thailand from Feb 17-Mar 2 and I had something weird there, but played golf after a night of body pains. They only had 45 cases in Thailand when I went there, for 71 million people, hardly a blip
However, millions of people have had or have this with hardly any symptoms. The recent 3,000 tests in 19 counties in New York showed 14% tested positive. That is roughly 2.8 million people if you take that % of 20 million people, so the death rate would drop by 10 x. How shocking!!!! Would go from 6% to .6%

According to the experts there is a 93% chance that the antibodies test will produce a false positive 39% of the time and a false negative -39% of the time.
Sensitivity=91% Specificity=89%.
That means 91% of time positives are true positive. 9% are false positive.
89% of negatives are true negatives. 11% are false negatives.
You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
I doubt that has ever stopped you before, so party on.

Well. If I have the freaking antibodies-Dr. Birx can have them. It’s time for this shite to be over, and the sooner we can all know what we’re dealing with, the better.
Agreed. The NIH is conducting a study of 10,000 people who haven't been diagnosed with COVID-19 and asking for volunteers. I'd like to know if I've had it, and if it'll help end this sooner, I'm willing to take part.

My doctor asked me to get one, they should be available in two weeks here.
He believes I had it, based on my symptoms.
Mild fever 99.8, dry cough, loss of smell.
That fits the profile of a positive test result in his practice.

Before you take the test, you should find out who the manufacturer of the test is and do research on the efficiency of their test.
The test needs to have high specificity (few false positives). The Miami test, that has been discussed on here, had an 88% specificity rate, which is way too low and produces too many false positives.
A test with a 90% specificity rate (higher/better than the Miami test) would produce a 67.9 false positive rate.
Only at 99% specificity does the false positive rate become near acceptable, and even then 16% of positive results would still be wrong.
There is very little regulation of the tests being marketed. 29 commercial tests designed to detect COVID 19 antibodies are on sale in the US, but NONE of these tests have had their accuracy evaluated by the FDA or any other regulatory body.
You are likely wasting your money unless you wait for the FDA to give regular way approval to these tests, and/or for more reputable companies to come out with their tests. That is estimated to be in a month (so probably 2 months).
This is a link to an article from Evaluate, which discusses all of this.

Although. I’m not buying a thermometer. No point now
You know there is a possibility that some time in your life you may have a temperature again? Its not a one and done type thing.

What the hell are you talking about?
We all have our limits.
I like the fact she has drawn a line in the sand and will not, under any circumstances, buy a damn thermometer.
I am like that with fruit.

I was told that they are specifically looking for people with O neg blood that test positive.
Posted on 4/26/20 at 6:41 am to Wednesday
The estimate now is that 20% of all Americans have had the cv19. But something like 80% get almost no symptoms. Definitely good to get the test if it gives you peace of mind right now so you can work but I'm sure everyone will have it eventually. Sorry you haven't been able to see your folks, baw. I know that sucks.

So sick of people throwing out statistics that do not know what they are talking about, particularly when they are blatantly agenda driven.
Prevalence affects positive predictive value (PPV). When prevalence is low so is PPV. This is what you are referring to. As number of tests increase so does PPV and your "facts" turn to shite.
Here is my source, it is from National Library of Medicine, not some agenda driven blog. If you can understand math check it out. If you cannot, GFY ands STFU,
Prevalence and Positive Predictive Value
quote:
Prevalence Impact on Positive Predictive Value (PPV) and Negative Predictive Value (NPV) Prevalence thus impacts the positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) of tests. As the prevalence increases, the PPV also increases but the NPV decreases. Similarly, as the prevalence decreases the PPV decreases while the NPV increases.
Your BS post considers a snapshot in time. Mine can be used as the situation develops, at any time. This includes the present.

I work at a small/medium size hospital. All staff got the antibody test about 2 weeks ago. Not one single positive. Zero. It blew our minds.

Had my blood drawn on Friday. Results come on Tuesday. I did it because I had all the symptoms, with the worst of it occurring on Feb 29th. Already had the common flu back in early January, and tested negative for the flu this time.
I’m the primary caregiver for my 81 year old dad, so it would be good to know that I most probably will not be carrying the virus. However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still be washing your hands, sterilizing items, etc. You can still expose others by physically carrying virus on your hands, etc.

Still doesn't even. you're immune for a year. They have people out there who caught it twice during one year.

Naw I don’t think I need it. I just go to the grocery store, if I don’t get it there from that Petri Dish then I already have the antibodies. Cheaper than the antibody, test as long as I stay away from the prime Filet section.
