Anyone with a brain knows this isn't about media. It's about China.

The decision was considered extreme, as reporters had had access throughout much of the building for decades without being monitored.
Absolutely insane this was ever tolerated to begin with.

Now with the new Pentagon press policy, journalists are technically not barred from investigating, reporting or publishing stories on the U.S. military using information deemed sensitive or unclassified, but they could be deemed “a security or safety risk” should they even ask DOD personnel for such information, according to a draft of the rules.
I guess nobody cared about the concept of aggregation/compilation when it comes to sensitive information until now. There's a lot of (U) stuff that isn't for public consumption.

The media conflates "free press" with "spoonfed press"
The government does not have to help or assist the media in their reporting. They are not under any obligation legally to have press conferences, press facilities, press liaisons etc.

I know of a few business's that operate like this including my own. Security is heightened everywhere now, nothing new.

Worked in DOD facilities as a contractor and always needed an escort. Why do these libtards think they are special?

Many businesses have had this policy in place
In the 12+ years I was at CDC, if you didn't have an employee/contractor badge, the only place on the main campus that you could go without an escort was the visitor center/museum. At the other campuses you couldn't even get into the lobby without a badged escort - you had to wait by the security desk and go through the metal detector after your escort arrived.
