In recent months I've participated in the deportation of at least two illegals (with criminal records).

I wish someone would send ICE to the sugarcane fields. Or have them start pulling over sugar cane trucks.

That whole damned industry needs to be phased out of this state over the next 20 yrs. Land would be cheaper and put to better use, and the roads would be less damaged. And we'd pay about half what we pay now for sugar, even though it's already relatively cheap.

The government-created cartel has been a mainstay of America’s agricultural sector ever since. The farm bill,[2] is projected to cost taxpayers nearly $1 trillion in subsidies, including food stamps, but it will cost consumers—America’s families—far more than that.

Among the farm bill’s most egregiously wasteful items is the sugar program, under which the federal government guarantees a minimum price at which it will purchase processed sugar stocks. The government then imposes strict production controls to keep the market price well above the minimum so that the full costs of the program are passed on to American families

Easy way to solve the problem. Except nobody in a state that produces cane or sugar beets will ever go along with it.
