I upgrade my iPhone every 3 years. I know folks who upgrade every year, Android or iPhone, because they finance it through their cellphone carrier and think they are getting a bargain or not really paying for it, when realistically they are hooked. (I don’t sign contracts with cellphone carriers, I use the US Mobile MVNO.) I have asked them why and it’s just the thrill of having something new I guess but at the end of the day it’s their canoe and they can paddle it their way.

I think the fear mongering is hilarious. When Obama scolded Steve Jobs over not manufacturing iPhones in the US nobody batted an eye. Years later somewhere in Trumps first presidency they kicked it around again and determined it would add somewhere between $30-100 per phone. Today, to manufacture an iPhone in the US the cost has apparently risen $99,970.
