10:1 odds the OT'ers who bitch about the "higher taxes" on OT would go ballistic if their witholdings weren't juiced and they got little/no tax refund at the end of the year.

Many large corporations rather pay overtime. They don’t have to hire another employee. They pay one medical, retirement, thrift/401K, etc.

you just don't seem to understand how money and taxes work so you get defensive and start hurling insults

The truth is, when people on here disagree with the liberals, the liberals can't help but let their pompous, pretentious, arrogant, condescending, better-than-thou, elitist, smug, all-knowing side come out. Is it an insult to point that out? I don't think it is.
I know full well how money and taxes work. Not getting defensive when I point out that you saying so aligns you with that which I speak...

What in life is fair? Life hasn't been fair to me, why should it be fair to everyone else. There are winners and losers in everything.

I was saying you're full of dung over all the military stuff you were spewing.

I work more overtime hours in most weeks than straight.
Why should I be taxed more for working more?
The tax increase on overtime is retarded.
Now , I would agree to lower the taxes on overtime. I would settle for that.

Just don’t work overtime? It’s not optional , it’s a job requirement.

I agree. A flat tax would be fine. Everyone pays the same percentage regardless of income amount. Or did you mean just in this specific instance?

Why should you earn your living at a lower ETR than a salaried person that works over 40/week but isn't paid overtime?

No, so you can simply be an American and help pay off our national debt with the rest of us.

Do you support "progressive" income taxation? (Hint, I know you do, just pointing out the hypocrisy)

I’m a salaried worker and I have no issue with waiters and waitresses not being taxed on tips or someone working a few hours overtime being not taxed.

If you are on salary and upset that an hourly worker is is getting paid OT tax free then you need to renegotiate your salary.

You knee jerk against anything Trump proposes.

It’s not “knee jerk” to say that service industry workers should not get special tax treatment. Opposition to that would have been mainstream on this board until Trump proposed it. It’s the nutty part of populism. And you will see that after that, there will be another proposal to favor another populous group over everyone else, and then populism will descend into class warfare because special treatment for certain groups is the fuel that populism has traditionally run on.

Whoever takes the mantle from Trump is going to be a critical figure. That person will decide if Trump’s populism is replaced with a traditional free market rule of law. If not, authoritarianism is our future. Ironically it would have been anyway were it not for Trump.

If we can use Trump to crush the bureaucratic deep state, then replace him with a Republican who will apply Adam Smith/Milton Friedman principles, but with Trumpian brakes on offshoring, we will come out of this prosperous and secure. It is a bit of a narrow needle to thread, though.

I have hope that this is Vance.

I think he's just toeing the line until 2028.

I’ve been called a liberal twice today and I’m the furthest from it.

Ike wasnt a "liberal" but understood war debt had to be paid off.

I am not for higher taxes personally. I would prefer gutting the govt.

But balancing the budget is the Conservative stance and when in this much debt that usually means you'll need more revenue.

Not an opinion, its a fact.
