re: How is Russia losing this war?

With the size difference, they are struggling big time. HUGE losses in life and equipment. Barely taking a few cities. Pitiful.
Because their objective is odd.
Going back to old wars where your objective is to conquer, you don’t really care how much shite you destroy, because you will just build your new shite. You beat them in to submission.
Russia doesn’t want to conquer or destroy. There isn’t even an objective of removing a threat (Ukraine is no threat).
So they’ve made it tough on themselves to be successful.

Russia is a slow methodical military. They took major losses in WWII and ended up winning on the Eastern front because of their military doctrine. They took fricking Berlin and you won’t read about it our school’s history books because we always hated Russia.
You can’t view Russia’s military and compare it to the US’s shock & awe deliverable. If you do, you don’t understand Russian military doctrine. Taking out schools and hospitals is part of war in the Russian doctrine. It’s breaks the will of the people.

Realistic people know that Russia could devastate Ukraine quickly. But I think it's a very realistic take that Russia is showing it can't win the war in the manner and at the rate it intended, which is going to leave it in a mess. Assuming the oft-reported Russian beliefs about Ukranian willingness to fight are close to accurate, Russia was screwed in the long term once that resistance materialized, regardless of if/when the cities fall. I suspect said resistance will wane over time, but I highly, highly doubt the cost of that is what Russia anticipated or is prepared to bear.
Why do you believe this?

Shockingly, Putin doesn't seem to mind not having McDonalds or Starbucks
I suppose he also doesn't mind looking like a loser, having protests in the streets, having to beg foreign countries for assistance.
When you need military equipment from China after 3 weeks and troops from countries like Kazakistan you din't plan this out well.

Putin took Liurnia today. If he takes Caelid, I’m not sure what comes next.

And the mere suggestion that it LOOKED LIKED the Russian military was having logistical issues sent the fan boys into a tizzy

Is it weird that I’m not any sort of “fanboy” yet despite that point I still have the belief that things haven’t gone according to plan for the Russian force in Ukraine, perhaps even super close? Let me acknowledge, let us all acknowledge, that the information we glean from wherever must be taken in context of the extreme likelihood that said information has been manipulated in some way or is otherwise intended to achieve a particular narrative. That said, it doesn’t mean all of that information is useless, just that it must be properly taken into mind. Information such as however many Russian generals becoming casualties of the offensive. How precisely accurate that info is, who knows, but I sure can’t completely write it off. Point being surely things aren’t exactly going super well if you’re losing perhaps irreplaceable personnel of that caliber.
I guess I’m not completely sure what to think at this exact moment, but when I do come to more definitive conclusions it will be almost exclusively from my own thinking on the matter because I’m not convinced too many people have a solid grip on what’s going on.

Russia’s army has sucked arse for a long time.
France-Britain 1853-56: kicked Russia’s arse
Japan 1904-05: kicked Russia’s arse
Central Powers 1914-1917: kicked Russia’s arse
Finland 1918: kicked Russia’s arse
Poland 1919-1920: kicked Russia’s arse
Estonia 1919-1920: kicked Russia’s arse
Latvia 1919-1920: kicked Russia’s arse
Japan: 1938-39: Russia finally won one
Finland 1940: kicked Russia’s arse (initially)
Axis 1941-43: came close to kicking Russia’s arse
Afghanistan 1979-89: Kicked Russia’s arse
Chechnya 1994-96: kicked Russia’s arse
If war was football, they’d be like 3-9 and their head coach would be reading the want ads.

3-9 huh? Well they are playing a JUCO & controlling the game while running a ball control offense.
