Trump announced his tariffs on April 2 of this year which he referred to as "Liberation Day."

In March, the month before Liberation Day, annual inflation was reported to be at 2.4%.

Today's report shows annual inflation is 3.0%.

Even Texas A&M grads know that inflation is UP since the tariffs were announced.

Post 2020 inflation was runaway, this is an expected steady rise.

Exactly. Contributing all 0.6% inflation to tariffs in nonsense. If you have expected steady rise and still take in billions, it’s only logical to suggest tariffs are working.

Yes, I started in 2009 and I worked in the field too. I started here in SWLA, and we were hundreds of houses deep and the banks just said name your price to get it done. Nowadays we have standard pricing and cost estimators but back then, you could throw numbers at them and they would pay it.

We would bill like $10K to trim back the overgrown landscape. Now days that same job might pay like $2500

I expanded to TX, and MS, then VA, and so on. Have ridden the ups and downs but there will never be another time like 2009 to about 2013 as far as inventory goes. If there is another time like that, I will ride it then retire to the Maldives or something.

Inflation is also down Quarter over Quater. Meaning the period from April 1 to June 30 saw more inflation than Q3. Do you not understand how numbers work?

Inflation will always rise, unless the economy is completely out of whack. The goal is to keep the level of rising Inflation at a steady and relatively low amount.

It was falling Jan 2025 - April 2025, when it started rising again

I wonder what happened in April 2025?

Why are people struggling to see what the admin is doing. .. pushing energy output to lower oil to depress inflation while forcing trade deals.. as long as oil stays in this lower holding pattern, trumps policy will work. The admin through multiple layers, deals and policy has been able to keep inflation manageable especially with consumers imo due to its energy policy

That's simply not true.

The months of April through June saw inflation at 2.4, 2.3 & 2.7.

July through September inflation was measured at 2.7, 2.9 & 3.0.

I do. You don't.

Youre wrong.

You need to learn to read basic graphs. Inflation is currently rising.

The rate at which inflation was rising was decreasing yes, but inflation was still rising. We generally measure inflation by the rate at which it is rising. 1% for example would be a low inflation rate but the costs of goods and services would have still rose 1%.

He could lower consumer good prices more if he got rid of DEF

IIRC there is over $10 billion per year spent on DEF, with most of that coming from commercial trucking. It's a tax on the consumer, probably more directly than tariffs.

Correct.

But clearly it was dropping.
