Blacks run the concrete finishing profession. If you see anyone other than a black guy finishing a concrete slab, you know it’s going to be done wrong.
Different ethnicities tend to perform different specialty trades for some reason. Crackers are electrical and HVAC guys, Hispanics are insulators and scaffold builders. Welders are whiny b$&@es. Roofers, ironworkers, and carpenters can be anyone.

Working in construction, I'd say the percentage of black guys on sites is less than their percentage in the general population, but it' also true for white guys, too. I have quite a few black guys that work for me.

Here in Houston you never see black construction workers. Even sanitation workers are now rarely black, almost always Hispanic. In fact, since blacks never have blue collar jobs, exactly what do they do?? I wonder...

I see them as the stop/slow sign holders.
Never paid much attention to that position before, but last year they were working at night in summer time on road by my house. Is it normal for flag holders to only stand for 2 hours and then take a break for 2 hours? Working in a two man rotation per sign. Was weird as hell. All the sign holders were black, and the rest of crew was white and hispanic.

I see more and more lately in industrial construction. The ones who are there either work hard or wash out pretty quick. Most work hard. That is a good change from the past few years.

GOP had the Philadelphia Plan back in the 70s that addressed some of this. The trades aren't pushed in the community to the degree it was in BOOKER T WASHINGTON time.

Lots of masonry and concrete guys are black. Thats construction. I don't know why they choose those particular activities. But, the best ones I know are black fellas
