I didn’t respond to the OP.

For the sake of argument, let's say you are completely correct.
Great.

I never said it was.

Completely agree.

I agree that it is propaganda. It was a good opportunity to start a discussion with Christians.

Matthew, Chapter 2, vs 13 - 14. Read them.

Your dedication to carefully crafting specifically chosen Bible verses to your own perverted ends is impressive.

Good grief. This has clearly become a penis measuring contest for you.
I've spent 30 years in physiology and molecular genetics. I won't spend another 30 in theology or ME history.
"Scholars" stating things as "facts" from 2000+ years ago from a scattered and unreliable historical record is comical. Hell. You can't get people to agree on what transpired in the 2020 presidential election in the state of Minnesota.
The next time you read a 700 page book, do some critical thinking about what can be "known" and what can be thought.

But to argue Jesus never existed in reality, considering the historical record, is painful idiocy.
The first story we have of an earthly Jesus is the gospel according to Mark. It is filled with language and mythology taken from Paul, the Old Testament, and Egyptians and Persians and written in a style of Greek writing similar to Homer’s Iliad. It’s not just filled with mythology, but rather it is 100% mythology. How then can it be used to corroborate a real earthly Jesus when the earliest writings we have of any Christians is Paul, who specifically mentioned none of the apostles saw Jesus until after he was resurrected (after he was killed by angels in Heaven)?
All the other references to earthly Jesus are based on and derived from the gospel according to Mark.
It’s not idiocy. You would see that if you had an open mind and did your own research.

According to the Bible, Christ and his family were refugees in Egypt. If you believe the Bible is the word of your god, you cannot deny it.
As an atheist, I have no such restriction. That commercial has no affect on my emotions because the Bible is false.

I’m not crafting anything. I give Bible references so you can look up the verses yourselves.

quote:You're comparing your 100 imaginary creations with 1000's of actual people, who actually existed, who are well documented to have existed, whose existence played a major role in Nero's Rome just 30yrs after Jesus' crucifixion. The most famous of these, Peter, is described by numerous writers of the time as having been executed in Rome during Nero's reign, likely in 64 AD.
If I wrote a letter claiming Bigfoot appeared to 100 of my friends, but didn’t name any of those friends, and none of those friends wrote about it… does that count as undeniable evidence that 100 of my friends saw Bigfoot?

I wasn’t. I was talking about Paul’s claim of Jesus appearing (only after his death and resurrection mind you) to the 12 and to the 500.
Sure 1000’s of people existed who worshipped the deity Jesus. But those people didn’t witness a Jesus on earth.

returned to their village as required by Roman law for the census and payment of taxes. THEY OBEYED THE LAW even though they may not have agreed with it.
There was no such thing. Judea was a Roman client kingdom at this time, which was allowed to keep its customs. The Jews thought peacetime censuses were immoral. The taxes they paid Rome were a set fee, not based on population.
Rome did eventually revoke Judeas client kingdom status and perform a peacetime census decades after Jesus's supposed birth, but it came with massive riots and civil unrest (because it was a peacetime census).
No way there was an earlier instance of this.
Also, none of the censuses required you to travel anywhere. Completely made up.

Perhaps you'll now deny Nero existed?

Why not? 30 years ago most of the human genome was "known" to be junk DNA. Francis Collins was mocked for wasting time and money sequencing non-coding regions of the genome. That turned out not to be true and non-coding RNAs have become an independent field of study.
I think you need to come to grips with the fact that your understanding of biblical history is, at best, the speculations of modern scholars based on a sketchy historical record. Virtually nothing can be truly "known". Some things may be disproven, but little can be "known".
I'm out. We got a "rat killin" this morning and most of my staff is on vacation...to celebrate Christmas.

You would read a story of Paul Bunyan and conclude a giant tree chopping badass must’ve really existed.

What did Nero allege about an earthly Jesus? I don’t think he wrote on that subject.
Nero existed. So did Josephus, Tacitus, Pliny, etc. none of them offer any evidence of an earthly Jesus, but rather they refer to the worshippers of Jesus existing.
