I agree with you. That’s what I was trying to say though. We can’t afford that. Literally. We cant afford them in “state housing” with 3 better than decent meals per day and a place to east. Unless the states are going to take thousands of fights a day deporting them, which they can’t afford, they can’t have a law like that. Or enforce it at least. I agree with you, but it’s not possible.

Lol go to any government funded ER it’s nothing but illegals

Or check out the accident from uninsured drivers

Or the food stamp fraud and who’s getting them

Them money we are spending ignoring the problem is higher than solving it. Plus it will cause the numbers coming to decrease showing it’s not a friendly environment for you.

What qualifies as proof of citizenship? Do I have to carry around my passport?

What qualifies as probably cause to arrest someone for this. Really curious how the corrections facilities will pay for the additional prisoners should this actually get enforced.

This is the way.

Unless the Supreme Court changes pretty recent precedent, this is a waste of time.

The same way Border Patrol/INS has for decades until Biden crippled them from doing their jobs

So their:
Welfare - federal (1Trillion last year)
Medicare - federal
Housing - Federal

You can’t take away anything.

They won this battle. But crazy responses don’t win wars.

So you want a bunch of cops driving around neighborhoods rousting work sites, demanding papers, taking people into custody for suspicion of being in the country illegally. Let's hit up the Mexican Restaurants.....and Chinese places too. Yeah, you'll scare the patrons but you might bag an illegal or three. Hell, Louisiana cops might even get their rocks off violating an actual citizen or legit Perm Residents Civil Rights all with the primatur and sanction of the Hon.Jeff Landry.

So what happens if they can produce a green card or correct documentation, is Bubba and Boudreaux gonna do an eVerify right there on the spot? Is there room in the patrol vehicle? Or are we going to buy prison type busses to pull up into neighborhoods and process these people. You gonna pay for new facilities to house these people, keep them staffed and provide housing along with three hots and a cot?

So you are fine with hard-core authoritarianism so long as it's your kind of hard core authoritarianism.

This will never go into effect. States need to be more clever about it. Enact less sweeping laws that make it hard to hand around as an illegal.

Look...I was already in support of this bill. You don't have to sell me on it.

Can you explain what is authoritarian about doing what we can to combat being invaded and driving up tax payer expenses to take care of illegals?

Have serious doubts this makes it past 5th Appellate, and goes no further.

ANY immigration is the domain of the Feds. And states can't play in the Fed sandbox (unless it is Alvin Bragg who desires to imply that Trump violated Fed election laws, that is ok).

The real question is what is the threshold that makes someone suspicious speaking forigen language? not having a driver's license?

well if they do enforce this it will be a giant blow to all the companies that employ these illegals for manual labor. home builders, lawn care companies, concrete companies. I remember what manual labor looked like pre katrina in this state. that's what it's going to look like if they enforce this.

Oh no the guy who owns the contracting company can no longer afford his 3rd home and 150k truck with kids that isn’t used for manual labor and will have to pay fair wages

What’s “authoritarian” about enforcing immigration laws? These people don’t belong here in the first place

So you trust government.....the State of Louisiana to fairly and competently engage in immigration law enforcement along with the every day law enforcement like murders, car jackings, rape and assaults? You gonna pay for the training of police officers. You down with funding for newer bigger jails staffed with "professionals" to house these criminals and to feed them? You gonna deport them too. You want to pay for busses to the border or airplane tickets. Talk about welfare spending.....and cop problems.

Oh wait, get it. Jeff Landry and the Legislative braintrust can establish the Louisiana Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Replete with a Secretary a full bureaucratic staff and their own holding facilities that we the taxpayer can continue to pay for in perpetuity

So while you bitch about the "welfare" and public assistance they are draining......they get to live off the state totally with climate controlled comfort, medical care and 3 meals a day along with supervision......all brought to you buy the Great State of Louisiana.

Louisiana pols aren't competent in any way shape or form......but you think they will be competent in this venture?

I agree with you, but it’s not possible. Edit for spelling

Texas and LA should get together and have a weekly mass flight of all illegals arrested/detained and send them to a northern blue state. If that don’t work out their asses on a bus/train
