I mean that's the vacillation of politics. It's just that NYC is one of the most far-left areas of the country, so instead of the DEM/GOP divide we see nationally, you get Socialist and some more moderate form of DEM.

Where are you seeing vacillation on the part of Mamdani? He ran his campaign on a socialist platform, took office only 5 days ago, and already his cabinet is talking about Collectivizing private property. Sounds to me like he’s hit the ground running to implement full blown communism.

The vacillation is that of the voters. That's how we went Obama > Trump > Biden > Trump, nationally.
The middle still swings elections. The problem is that what is the middle in NYC isn't the middle nationally or in areas most posters on this forum live.
