AI is just a useful, time-saving tool. As said over and over again, collecting the statutes and jurisprudence isn't worth it, because some people move the goal post so much.

I think you are missing the over all picture. Without stepping back into this, I will explain it differently.
The idea that is being presented by you is that in a narrow box, we will call it "the protest only box", Trump has no authority.
What others ate saying is that your box is labeled wrong and there are other details that you have to include.
An analogy... it is like saying the civil war was fought strictly to free slaves.
The point made is that Iran is sponsoring terrorists. That, and I did not know this until this thread, Iranians have been arrested here under terrorism charges. Include those into your box and you start seeing the over all picture.
If Trump saw an opportunity to back opposition that stopped the backing of terrorism, he has the authority. Him gatheringsupport for other reasons is just a plus.
I think that should clear up this debate.
