I wonder if blacks are underrepresented in applications?

I am trying to figure what American demographic constitutes the OTHER 12% of the admissions. Among the general population, Whites (60.1%), Blacks (13.4%) and Latinos (18.5%) comprise about 91% of the population, with most of the remainder being mixed-race or Asian.

By race/ethnicity, 2,879 White, 559 Black, and 376 Asian students out of a total of 4,589

So blacks comprise 12.2% of the total school population? Doesn't seem to be that far off from population representation...

So, I wonder if the issue is the actual congressional appointments...

Minorities don’t apply at the same levels white people do. This isn’t rocket science.

Minorities in general stay away from the combat arms and pilot career fields as well. The VAST majority of the actual fighting is done by middle class white boys.

Let's see...

How much of the military in general is made up of whites vs other races?

What are the qualifications of these kids who aren't getting appointed to military academies?

And who are all these congresscritters appointing to the academies?

If the CBC isn't using their congressional appointments to put black kids in, why should anyone else be doing so?

I suspect that a large part of the apparent discrepancy related to bi-racial students. I suspect that many of them self-identify as one race or the other (usually Black, in my experience), but that they are NOT included in the numbers for that race by the Academies.

Maybe they're not seeking to be in a military academy??

Instead of seeing the difference in appointment between Republicans vs Democrats maybe they should do it by the race of the congressman. I’m sure they would not like what they find.

It can be a whole host of things including what you mentioned... In many cases it is probably because they do not qualify or are a lesser candidate than those they are competing for the slot against...

Next up quota system

The Soviets did that too

This is beginning to make sense.

The Russian Revolution was many things, but it was often a revolt by minorities, against the majority. The Soviets repressed the Russian identity, while simultaneously establishing quotas for minorities within the Union.

The Democrats are creating a legal framework, where their enemies will be second class citizens, and their allies will enjoy special privileges.

It both a bribe and reward, and a way to bind a potentially fractious coalition together.

It’s also a way to control and impoverish their enemies.

-

Is this probably a truism of minority governments everywhere.

The Ba’athist government in Syria protects and rewards Syrian minorities. And they’ve been able to hang onto power, because middle class urban Sunnis prefer Assad to radical rule. Assad is considered reasonable, and better than being dominated by radical Sunnís from the countryside.

Radicals are bad for business.

You can't win wars with transportation and supply units. You can't win wars without them, but that can't be all you bring to the fight.

Academically, blacks have the lowest test scores as a group. So it would make sense that a smaller percentage of black students are eligible for acceptance compared to the percentage of other groups.

Well, obviously the tests are racists in nature and created to keep the black man down...

67% vs. 13%

What % of the 13%'ers, after you weed out retards, etc., actually have a life dream of attending a military academy?

It's not a lack of diversity, it's a lack of qualified candidates among those that are even considering the move.

People are twisting all of these "under-represented" fricking positions into a discussion that's not even there. What was the last one we have on her ? - Oh yeah, Blacks were under-represented in the "WATCH MAKER" profession.

Clown World.

Getting into a service academy is highly competitive. Candidates are judged on academic scores(and classes taken(no consumer math)),athletics AND SAT/ACT scores. Some say Math is racist.
