Here I hope this helps. Just to be clear I wasn't arguing that I believe that Democrats are "smarter". Just more educated according to research.

What does more educated mean to you?

Honest question, to everyone else as well.

College grads now are not as intelligent as college grads 30 years ago. More degree mills and less rigorous course work have allowed for more graduates.

It is true that a majority of college grads vote democratic but then the most undereducated also vote democratic and they tend to vote in larger blocks and at a higher rate than nearly any other block. For this reason, I don't think you can either say that the democratic party is either the most educated or the smartest among voters. In fact they likely are neither.

Being "educated" in the context of politics just means that you got a college diploma. Some universities have DEI quotas. A majority of graduates become indoctrinated and radicalized at University. Just because you have a College Degree doesn't mean that you are smarter or have common sense. Some people who have degrees are under the dillusion that they are better than people who don't.

Black women are the most educated group.

But if anyone watched that Tucker interview with sbf, he was surprised these dudes with barely any education were whipping arse in chess in prison.

There is more to intelligence than going to school.

Lmao... "More educated" doesn't necessarily mean smarter or wiser. Many folks telling us men can be women hold degrees and PhDs.

I rather agree with much of this, when people say educated, they seem to conjure up 1920s Oxford and a degree in the classics where college students learned Greek, Latin, logic, mathematics, history and governance.

That's no relation to modern college education.

There are many ways there are so many degrees that no one takes those "classics"

A class here or there, or one class in Logic does not make an expert.

Many of these modern degrees in STEM produce people who can code, or do math, or calculate physics (Or all the above)

History degrees lack a foundation in logic

The arts are often free of anything that a classical education brought.

Long and short of it, the myth of an education is vastly over rated when it comes to evaluating governmental responsibilities.

As an originally Louisiana native, I attended UT Austin out-of-state as a computer science and math double major. I still had to take foreign language classes, 2 classes on US government (my professor for first one is a republican and does the Fox News polling. Dr. Daron Shaw), 2 classes on US history (I chose Gilded Age to Modern age for both), psychology, art, and STEM classes outside of cs and math classes.

I'll tell you this, many many many people dont have a fricking clue from both parties regardless of education level about how the US government works. I met more republicans from Louisiana and Texas who get most of their news information from Facebook posts. But luckily if you go to a Texas university you are required to take US and Texas government classes, which isn't the case for Louisiana universities.

There is a heavy correlation between non-degree holders and their ability to conduct research versus people with degrees (if this isn't obvious, idk what else to tell you). Most blue-collar people don't have time or many other reasons. There is also a heavy influence on the environment that someone grows up in regardless of education level. More women tend to believe what their parents believe than men do.

I'd be willing to bet that the book says "college educated" specifically, and the OP whittled that down to just "educated" to elicit these types of response.

Yes, among others I had Greek History, Archeology, Spanish, Psychology, and Philosophy as electives.

I'm not going to pretend that those were an education in those fields.
Introduction and trivia is not a replacement for experience and knowledge in a field.
All of those classes are no different than the Introduction to College Math class that the art History people need to take.

Most STEM people can't do research worth crap. Most humans can't do research worth crap.

College degrees don't magically fix that.

I'm 4 pages late to this thread so it's probably already been posted.

Smart people consider themselves smart by a metric that includes college education, success in their field, and the amount of money they make. And that's fair. The problem comes into play when a smart person feels some kind of way about something political, they know nothing about, but because they are smart and society has validated their smartness, they don't need to know the facts. Their ego says "I'm smart, and this is how I feel about this political thing, so I must be correct". And anyone challenging that position/feeling is seen to be insulting their smartness, therefore dismissed.

And democrat voters have a much higher rate of mental illness.

But to the point, don’t confuse “educated” with well informed.

Never confuse "educated" with "intelligence". They are not equivalents.
