LINK
This is one of reams of articles which have well qualified scientists who dispute evolution.
First of all, linking a site notoriously funded and run by fundamental young earth creationists probably isn't the best way to convince others your sources are valid. You might as well cite answers in genesis.
Second, that article is a prime example of the act of quote mining whereby one makes a dishonest appeal to authority by taking out of context quotes of well regarded individuals and using that to support claims that those making the quotes would never actually agree with. It's something which not only creates a lot of misinformation but has actually resulted in lawsuits from those whom the quotes are taken from.

So every one of you guys that believe that a person shouldn't use their moral judgments to deprive others of personal freedoms must be pro life right?
Surely a mother shouldn't be allowed to make a moral decision that deprives her child of life?!

In his defense, he only does it because so many on this board continue to ignore his incredibly obvious hooks.

Alas, I'm honest enough also to know that while I disagree, some people have become convinced that we're not talking about a person when it comes to the baby.
Regardless, I would say that for someone who generally shares the view you responded to, the abortion issue should be one of the exceedingly few exceptions for them.

Reading the bible is the most fun way to lose faith.
Come for the legal slavery and murder, stay for the blood sacrifice of the innocent.
Once you sit back and think about it in an objective way, you realize Christianity is just another cult borrowing from earlier traditions.

Nowhere in the OP did I try and ask for an explanation in detail about the idea of homosexuality. This entire thread evolved from me asking why someone would misuse the word ignorant when this debate came up. Its literally a defense mechanism that gays and gay supporters/tolerators use to try and belittle straight people. Its honestly confusing to why they use a term that translates to "lack of knowledge to a topic" when everything I stand by morally is justified because I live my life by a certain standard. Not supporting/tolerating homosexuality doesn't make me ignorant.

I wish there was an alternative to marriage that was recognized equally by the government. Make marriage a religious, or even heterosexual arrangement and have some other kind of partnership with equal benefits for those that want to be "married."

So, separate but equal?

I think you're giving Tuba a little too much credit.

quote:Maybe I misunderstood him but I think he was arguing for what I argue for. Namely, that the government shouldn't be in the marriage business at all. If the government wants to have some sort of partnership certificate or whatever, so bet it(although I'm against that too) but marriage should be a private affair for BOTH straights and gays. Hence, no "separate but equal".
So, separate but equal?
And yes, I know.....but what about benefits blah blah blah. ALL very easily handled.

In first world populations, sure. Across the globe as a whole, the biggest propagator of HIV is unprotected heterosexual sex in Africa. If the rate of protected intercourse in Africa rose to the level currently used in America, the rate of HIV transmission across the globe would drop by nearly 60%.
Sorry you wasted all those words needlessly.
First Roger, I noticed you refused to answer my two questions. This does not surprise me. You always do.
I never stated heteros could not get HIV despite your stupid/ignorant claims. You always said this because you are 10. Gays are the major contributor to HIV in the USA.
Second, why are you concerned with African countries? Do you live there? Have a lot of relatives living there? The rate of HIV in Africa does not effect HIV transmission in the US. In Africa, Gays still have the biggest risk of obtaining HIV. This does not change. Gay anal sex is 18 times riskier than Vaginal sex. Gays that are bisexual are giving the disease to straight women who then give the disease to straight men. Gays are transmitting this deadly disease into both the hetero and homo population in Africa at alarming rates. Thus, many African countries have made homosexuality illegal with some countries give the abnormal condition of being gay the death penalty. They are trying to stop HIV at it's most deadly source.....homosexuality. Again, if the rate of HIV infections in Africa decreases it will not effect the HIV rates in the USA.
