Even Cane's usually has an above average work staff when compared to other fast food places.

My understanding is both CFA and Canes are primarily corporate owned stores with owner-managers vs a true franchise model.

The one in Metairie on Veterans is a very clean store. The employees are very courteous and work hard. No standing around talking on cell phones.

We pretty much know the prevailing politics of all parties involved. No worries. And all those people act pretty much how we expect them to act. Don't work yourself up too much over it.

Except in all the Houston suburban CFAs I'm familiar with, there is a massively diverse group of employees. I often wonder if they ask for report cards before they hire, because these groups of kids are so polite and seem very smart. I doubt this group has any specific kinds of political leanings at all, and probably lean liberal if pressed.

It's not politics. It's not specific groups. It's hiring better people, paying better, holding them accountable, and having great systems and processes.

I've always suspected that being closed on Sunday actually helps their business because it plants a seed in the mind of hungry passerby's that there will be a time when I can't get this so I better get it now. Just a speculation on my part because I know I've gotten food there thinking that. Because you always get a craving on a random Sunday afternoon and then...damn.

Not only that but fast food places are open a ton of hours and are fast paced. That means cleaning and upkeep is harder when never closed.

Closing on Sundays allows time to fix things and do preventative maintenance. Allows owner to go in and inspect while closed and ID any needs.

Its a weekly reset day to allow the Mon-Sat grind to work better. Most places open on Sun are not getting that plus Sun workers don’t want to be there but need to be.

Some argue they lose money but because this one day break allows them to fine tune their store, it creates better quality. In the long run quality seems to work better than quantity.

Popeye’s and KFC have pretty simple menus also.

Not even remotely as simple.

Cane's has: chicken fingers, fries, toast, coleslaw, lettuce and a bun - 6 items.

Chic Fil A has gotten slightly more complicated, but the bulk of their menu is still: chicken breast x 3 (spicy, regular, grilled), chicken nuggets x 2 (fried or grilled), fries, lettuce/tomato/pickle and a bun - 10 items if you count the sandwich toppings separately.

KFC just on the protein has 4 different chicken parts, tenders, and nuggets. They also have like 10 different sides.

Popeye's has chicken pieces, tenders, wings, breast, shrimp, and fish to go along with 7 or 8 side options. Not to mention the spice/regular option.
