That's sounds about as a good idea is selling off and privatizing all the prisons.
How about we get the reason why we need to sell assets in order before we go making one time deals?

No, that's not analagous at all. And I'm not one particularly in favor of selling all or most federal lands. I'm not big on a lot of the restrictions some want to impose as to their use, though.

Look at it this way. Log into your bank account and look at how much money you have. And what if, overnight, it becomes worthless? You wouldn't be very happy. This is essentially what happened to Greece.

It actually leases out a good bit of it as grazing and timber land, for the elites to further enrich themselves on I suppose.

There are a number of reasons, but it wouldn't come close to paying off the debt anyway.
