No. There would be so many foreign companies buying up American land it would be ridiculous To do what?
To ship it back to their own country, silly. That would leave us without much land.

That comes up to roughly 246 million acres of land. Would you agree with selling half of this land to U. S. Citizens only to pay off the debt?

In reality all we have to do is balance the budget, then through the natural process of inflation will diminish the debt ratio. Eventually it will reach a point that we do just pay it off.
If you just kill all of us who are over 50 then that would pay off around 10 Trillion of the debt.
Most of the debt is entitlement liabilities that we owe to ourselves.

Sure it does. If we cant buy China's products then they fail as well. That's why it won't happen.

No need to sell off anything. You start a United States Lottery and earmark the proceeds to Social Security, then you legalize pot nationwide and tax it, earmarking that for debt repayment.

The third Zimbabwe Dollar went through 27 denominations ranging from 1 Dollar to 100 Trillion dollars. Coins issued under the first Zimbabwe Dollar were made legal tender under the Third Zimbabwe Dollar, increasing their value 10 trillion-fold. The machines used to print currency were used continuously, causing them to break down, and creating greater shortages of currency, especially since the Reserve Bank was unable to obtain repair parts for the machines.
The 100 Trillion Dollar note was the highest denomination issued for the third Zimbabwe Dollar. It has become a novelty item which can be obtained from dealers on EBay. Although its face value is less than one penny, the banknotes generally sell for around $30.

Yes please.

Good idea. They should split it into 100 million equal parcels and then divide the lots proportionately among 12 different income brackets, allowing sales of each bracket only to those within the range of income. Then they should do a lottery drawing for each parcel, so it would be pure chance to get the ideal parcel. People could pool their money and swap lottery tickets to compensate for that problem. After auction selling would handle the rest.

Selling federal land doesn't solve any of our budget problems

Oh, so it's only a good idea it "solves" a 20 trillion dollar debt? What budget problem does this need to "solve"? Yeeesh. I am curious how selling a liability would hurt the budget. Land takes money to maintain and manage, and considering that any "losses" taken on the sale has already been covered y taxpayers, this is a no lose scenario for the budget.
But I want it sold for entirely different reasons, so I guess it doesn't mattee if it solves the debt/budget issue. Nice lulzface tho.

Not to mention, the land that's not arid desert, is some of the must beautiful nature in the world. Before Roosevelt created the National Forest Service, people just mined and deforested huge areas without any payment. They just took everything they could exploit.
And a lot of the land is the most beautiful in the world. The kind of special places the should be preserved for future Americans. If anything, it's a shame it didn't happen earlier, where you'd have more old growth forests in this country. There's still industry in national forests. But it's regulated so that someone doesn't just come in and clear cut everything.

I know that most democrats will hate this due to their communist leanings. They feel all land should be owned by the Government.
No. I know I've actually looked into why National Forests were created by Teddy Roosevelt. And it has nothing to do with federal power.

Like I said before, congress can't even create a balanced budget. All it takes is another war or banking crisis and we will be another 20 trillion in the hole with no more land to sell. We need fundamental changes to our monetary and budget philosophy.
I don't think the liberals that have created this welfare state should get off easy by selling land

I don't really know why this matters in the current conversation

Hows about we tell the debtors to GFY and start printing our own money.
