Wife showed me a video that raised the question and it’s interesting.
In 1950 the population was ~ 554 million
For it to grow every family would have to have more than 2 kids (2 kids to replace 2 parents)
In 1970 the population was ~ 825 million
That growth would require every family to have 5 or 6 kids.
In 1979 the one child policy was introduced.
In 1990 the population was ~985 million.
One child policy should limit population increases right?
2000 population was ~ 1.25 billion
2010 population was ~ 1.34 billion
2020 population was ~ 1.43 billion
How did it grow?
The average age has gotten much older. Might be the oldest population at ~ 40yrs old.
But not everyone there are living to 100.
The video which is interesting the woman talking about it (she was Chinese) said she believes the population is only around 500 million.
Another thing China is going to have major issues with over the next 10-20 years is that during the one child policy, almost all families only kept boys. The number of women in the age to able to have children is dramatically low.
The population will crash.

Doubtful. Ghost cities and on the financial brink. If the US cut them off they’d fail immediately.

China overstates its population.
India understates it.

Is that their new official number? A couple of years ago, the big news was the had over-reported by like 250 million, which was to have the effect of pulling forward their "social security" inversion by like 35 years or something.

They also allow next to no immigration in.
