How do you think the break up between Ds and Rs would work? Every state has both voters. Are the red state going to kick the blues out and the blue states kick the reds out?

Oh I'm not saying the logistics are not difficult, but I'm beyond trying to pretend we live in 1960 America any more, where each party is generally pulling in the same direction but have different ideas on how to get there.

That's entirely false.

We can no longer coexist like this. We can't feasibly live in a country where when one party wins power they attempt to change the rules to ensure future one party rule for all times, and if they fail at doing so the other party will have to attempt the same when they get back in. We can't coexist as a "country" when one party openly hates the country and its history and its founders and its symbols, etc. We can't live in a country where we have no connective tissue any longer.

Literally the only thing holding The Right and The Left together now IS geography, and this seems to be true worldwide.

I’m being literal. You are acting like a National divorce is a common occurrence in the world. It never ends good. The CIA even plays into this by making other countries have civil uprising for strategic purposes.

If that happens in the US, chaos would ensue. Whatever you think is bad in the country now, would be a complete walk in the park.

Quick: name the top 5 countries that had an internal split and had a good time about it.

Czech Republic
Slovakia
Croatia
Slovenia
Montenegro

That was easy.

I could have kept going too.

One of the biggest problems is that republicans will never stand up to democrats even if they do get power

Republicans never want to take the responsibility that comes with power.

They are more than happy to be the opposition party than actually make a decision.

4 of those were a military conflict/war. Czech Republic was a side effect of WWII.

Do please keep going at explaining how war is a good thing.

*1776 version*

Quick: name the top 5 countries that had split away from a European power and established a democratic republic.

Among the catastrophes you wish on an adversary, secessionist movements potentially leading to civil conflict are high on the list.

Good

The economic consequences could be severe. The United States of America is a sprawling, continentwide free trade zone, creating a vast domestic market that makes us all better off. Exchanging that for what might be a market Balkanized by state or region would be a major loss.

Good

Finally, the United States foundering on its domestic divisions would be a significant blow to the prestige of liberal democracy.

Excellent

quote:

But if we are going to split up because we are irreparably divided and can’t even agree on bathroom policies or pronouns, how are we going to agree to divvy up our territory and resources — the kind of things real wars are fought over all the time?

We fight. Good

Meanwhile, red-state secession would create a barrier against federal intrusion, but would it actually stem the cultural tide? Would the college professors in these places be less woke? Would the newsrooms be more conservative? Would the corporations be less inclined to follow fashionable national trends? Would people in the state stop using social media, no longer do Google searches and cease consuming national media?

This assumes we follow the rules of a "liberal democracy"

What would happen if our economic system was converted to a communistic one?

Cool.

The left is marching closer and closer to socialism.

When is enough for you?

Going to be ok with voting in communism ultimately?

If we divorce soon, war won’t be necessary. If we wait until the dims turn our country into full blown socialism/communism, war is inevitable.

Do we need one? Yep, we need something. It's getting out of control.

Will it ever happen? Probably not

I was a long time reader, first time caller. Tbh, I forgot this site existed and if you were creeping on my profile that much you would of seen I used it only once after I created the account back in 2016 because I was in Europe and didn’t know how to watch a football game due to ESPN being incompetent at how they allow their service to be viewed in Europe for one week.

Anymore irrelevant questions about the username you see?

Then why not use the greatest system of government and fix itself. You think this is the first time where this country was on the brink of self-destruction? War doesn’t have to be the ultimatum to correct what’s wrong with this country.
