It was understood back then that you were going to very well get pummeled by the police if things got out of hand. Different time.
Very true. And,unless a News Camera or a Photog were there,it might as well have not happened.

Those of you wondering about that time in our history need to read this:
An account from someone who not only was there, but at the time was on the enemy's side.

Nah, the protesters in the 60’s were mostly anarchists that hated all politicians. Today’s protesters like the politicians that propose taxing the shite out wealthy Americans and giving them free shite.

That's the way I remember it also. The protests back then were pretty massive in size compared to these lightweight protests of today. Thank God there wasn't social mediaing back then or things could have really gotten ugly seeing as to how the majority of social media users can't think for themselves.

I would have to say "no" to your question. The 60's saw a lot of protests and violence. Inner city riots, Kent State, Viet Nam protests, protests against LBJ (Hey, Hey, LBJ. How many kids did you kill today?), Black Panther Movement, SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee), and the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) coming into existence in the early 70's. Antifa is a kitten compared to all these folks. Just my opinion, coming from someone who was around back then.

In the 60s cops were MUCH more likely to crack your head open, so it did take more courage to protest back then.
Then again, the risk of violence in a protest was much less than the risk of violence in Vietnam after you got drafted.

About like it is now but the difference is in how the media covered everything
Much of the media was in support, but they couldn't be as blatant as today because the citizens had not been brainwashed by the public education system.
I remember there was a terrorist named H. Rap Brown from Baton Rouge.
When Nixon and Hoover's FBI started shooting back, Kent State, tracking down the Black Panthers in Oakland, the terrorists started disbanding and preaching peace. There was a big explosion in an apartment building in Baltimore. H Rap Brown disappeared and the media gave him cover by speculating that he may have burned up in the fire.
Thirty years later I read that H Rap Brown was running a service station in Atlanta. He has been a wacko political activist in Atlanta for decades now.
