Considering LA has 6 seats in the House, why the frick is Bogalusa and Hammond in the same distric as Monroe?
Because LA-2 has to exist so that LA can have a black congressman

the state GOP needs to be very careful.
The LA GOP cannot do anything to stop anyone from running or order anyone to run. They can try to persuade or dissuade potential candidates in private but that's about it.
And that is a reality supported by the fact that we have open blanket jungle primary elections in Louisiana instead of nominating closed primary contests like other states.

Sentries,
We keep thinking it might be someone from the Monroe possibly Alexandria area, but the district also encompasses Tangipahoa/Hammond area as well as Washington Parish. What do you think the odds of a candidate coming out of there? Do you see a JBE acolyte challenging from that area?

It’s a shame Rispone and Grigsby did him in like that.
But hey, Ralph virtue signaled to his religious base after Trump said he grabs women's pussies, so we're going to have to vote for the Common Core guy, because he has Trump purity. Please pay no attention to this man behind the curtain, Grigsby, who has made a personal revenue stream out of every policy he's helped get enacted. Nothing to see there.
Some of y'all are master class retards. Really.

Higgins should make a run for governor in 2023. He has the name recognition and a nation wide financial support base from everyday Americans who are fans of the guy since his Tonight Show debut.
Feel bad for Doc. In hindsight research, he would have been the better candidate against JBE. He should consider a run again if Higgins doesn't. Especially if Scott Angelle throws his hat in the ring again.

One thing, I really doubt the field will be as crowded as you think it will be. The likely candidates will be Landry, Nungesser, Mike Johnson and Hewitt possibly and I think that will be about it. Running for Governor takes a lot of money, energy and carries a good bit of risk for future political ambitions if you lose. It's not exactly like buying a lottery ticket with no risk.
Graves?
I do agree with you that I think Doc is done. Some people are better Indians than they are Chiefs, and I think Doc is in that category.

The 5th district combines North Louisiana and South Louisiana together and that's just not a good combo for candidates from South Louisiana. And we saw that dynamic play out really badly with Abraham and Rispone, look at LSUballs post in this thread for example.
Rispone supporters didn't want to admit it at the time but the Rispone/Abraham fight was really about the North vs South. Rednecks vs Cajuns. Abraham voters were honest about it btw.
Better to go with the candidate that from the region that has more voters and that's the North here for the 5th district.

If Mike Johnson wanted the seat, he would be the favorite.
He is the current Congressman from the LA-4th district.
So that would be odd if he decided to run for the 5th.

Just my personal opinion but he has never struck me as a politically hungry guy, at least the kind that's required to win a gubernatorial election. He's basically been a ghost in the era of Donald Trump while guys like Scalise, Kennedy, Higgins, Johnson and Abraham to an extent have been 100% MAGA and in front of the cameras a lot.
Graves district is 100% safe. The GOP delegation the statehouse will never allow JBE to touch it after census. Graves is a good conservative suburbs Congressman and that's a pretty god gig to stick with.

I told y'all Steady Eddie riders at the time that Rispone was creating more problems for himself with his Abraham strategy that JBE would take advantage of to win and I was correct.
Too bad it sucks for the rest of us grounded in reality that wanted to avoid four more years of JBE.

Makes sense. Actually after I posted I was looking at the legislative mix and Democrats only really exist in New Orleans, southshore, some in BR and Shreveport. The House has a better than 2/3 majority Republican and there are like 12 Democrats in the Senate.
Going forward irrespective of who occupies the Governor's Mansion, there are no excuses. Too many Republicans . Start with cutting the balls off the ambulance chasers....in the case of the legacy stuff I want to see a little more of where Carmouche is going. It's not all cut and dry.

Those labels, far too often, mean nothing.

I really think you overstate that. JBE won because of NO/Jefferson and EBR. Not because of a lack of support for Rispone in the north.
That said, you are correct that people would be upset with a northshore person running for that district. It's thought of as a northeast district and people would resent anyone else running. THAT SAID-I can see a JBE supported democrat (progun, prolife) slipping in with the support of moderate whites and near unanimous black support.
Unlikely? Yes. But not much more unlikely than what people thought of JBE winning 5 years ago. They need a solid republican choice. NOT some nutjob.

I am 90% sure you are wrong about that.

Good thing I only merely professed my personal opinion and what I believe (even said so in my post) and not stated something as fact for me to be wrong about something.

Haha, wasn't taking a shot, more just contributing to the discussion.
