I live about 60 miles from Cape Girardeau, MO. That’s where Rush is from. They would have a billboard on I-55 of Rush, letting you know what time he came on and what radio station he’s on. The whole boot heel and SE Missouri is very conservative. Rush is by far the biggest celebrity to come from there.
He had a lot of offers to move to SiriusXM and keep his radio show as well. Chose to stay radio only. Made a ton of money. Saved AM radio
He was conservative before conservative was cool. He drove so many liberals and Democrats crazy. Survived the Clinton and Obama years. The best thing about him was like so many of us who used to watch the news. Whenever you felt like giving up, Rush could talk you off the ledge. Every time we would get pissed off about something, we had to hear what Rush’s take was. He believed this country was still worth fighting for. He made so much sense when he talked. He never panicked or freaked out. He kept us calm.
There is no conservative talk radio without Rush. No Fox News, One America News, RSBN. No Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Tucker Carlson, Jesse Waters, Larry Elder, Dan Bongino, etc.
The opening of his show was the intro to “My City Was Gone” by The Pretenders. Chrissy Hynde used to get a lot of grief from liberals letting him use her song. The reason she allowed him to use the song was her parents listened to Rush every day. Rush knew Chrissy’s parents well. When President Trump gave Rush the Presidential Medal of Freedom, she was proud of him. Said he deserved it.
Lunch time will never be the same. Thank you for everything Rush. Hope to see you some day soon. God speed

Can't help but think of my Aunt and my Dad..... both would have Rush on in their cars from 1988 'til the day I lost them.
I remember the first time I went to my auto mechanic's shop, he had Rush on..... I knew he was trustworthy from that moment on, and he has proven me right.

RIP Rush. I don’t have the words to express my feelings, but I’m sure others have articulated the meaning/impact Rush has had on the Conservative party. The thing that made Rush Limbaugh so effective was his uncanny ability to know what the left’s next move was before they ever even announced the next move. Rush could cut through the media’s talking points and tell you what democrats were really plotting and why. Rush took Sun Tzu’s concept of ‘know thy enemy’ and applied it to American politics.
