I wonder what the cavemen blamed species extinction and discovery on... bonfires?
Species come and go, it's quite literally a tale as old as time.

This is lazy thinking.

After years of declines, officials in North Dakota announced that sage grouse are gone from the state.

That’s true, but they were there.
The idea that the BLM mouthpiece would say sage grouse are thriving is ludicrous.

Now tell us about migratory waterfowl and libtarded windmills.
At least the oilmen have a plan. Libtards only plan is always the destruction of traditional American culture and our way of life

I'll see your sage grouse and raise you two attwater prairie chickens.

What is the government doing in response?
Energy production development uses a miniscule amount of land, you are talking about a tiny footprint that will have almost no effect on the birds.
Wind energy on the other hand abolutely devastates birds, especially raptors.

Have you checked, or are you just taking peoples' word for it?

Hey tell me about pheasant populations as well!

Classic political obfuscation. The idea that sage grouse are thriving is a complete fantasy.
You’re doing your part: grousing about it.

He listed other states besides those.
And yes, I try to stay informed on the topic.

Cool
I don't like grouse.

Your fake outrage is noted. I’m sure you have protested the wind turbine’s ability to kill birds. Your new found love of the Sage Grouse is greatly appreciated.

See, that's curious. I didn't pick up that vibe from the OP at all. Perhaps an oversight on your part?

North Dakota has never been a hotbed for sage grouse, at least not in recent memory. Their range is limited to the state’s southwest corner, along the border shared with Montana, and the population of male birds there has hovered below 250 birds since the early 1990s. By 2014, their numbers had fallen to around 31, and they were considered in imminent danger of extinction.
quote:LINK
The state blames habitat fragmentation from agriculture and development, along with the West Nile Virus as the primary causes of sage grouse declines. The virus decimated the remaining population in 2007, which is also the last year the state held a sage grouse hunting season. (The first year was 1964.) Only 21 grouse were harvested that fall, and hunts ceased permanently starting in 2008.
