Maybe... hear me out... maybe... he wasn't the best choice to GSD legislatively?

They elected the congress too. Unfortunately.

Broad sweeping tariffs is not even remotely a traditional conservative opinion.

They would have to be repaid under the emergency economics act. So now they will either go under Threat to National Security section 232, Injury to domestic industry section 201, Discrimination against US businesses section 301, International payment problems section 122 or Discrimination against US commerce section 338. One of the best hires Trump made was Bessent. Bessent knows economics and economic law better than anyone. You are not going to beat him. You have a low IQ congress trying to take on one of the greatest business minds ever. Bessent will run circles around those fools.

well to be fair I don’t think this was some 4D chess move to preempt climate change tariffs.

I figured as much. Hard to ignore all of the coincidences though.

Any leverage the US had in trade is all gone.

From what I understand the opinion is silent on how companies recover these payments. What’s the mechanism for recovery here? Will every company have to sue the federal government to recover the payments?

Why can't he use Congress,

Because congress gave that power to the executive long ago.

At least he was able to stuff his bank accounts in the UAE with tariff money for a year before they stopped him

So I guess you believe you are smarter in business and economics than Scott Bessent?

Are you sure or is it that you can not fathom any reason other than the one you think?

It's absolutely embarrassing what I've watched the Republican party be reduced to. They are done. For a long time.
Nah. They'll surf teh populist wave as long as they can, then it they will wipeout FatBoys style when the fad shifts. That's what the democrats did for the last 20 years.

The divide in our country is real. Our congress reflects our country. How is any trade legislation, through congress, going to come close to what Trump had put together?

Get ready for a wild ride on wall street.

Plan B which is exactly what Trump and his team wanted to do all along

Newsflash: The sky is not falling.

Everybody relax, chill and trust the Trump team.
