If I gave a thousand dollars to the houston food bank, should it be taxed? Of course not. By taxing churches, government wants to control what is said in pulpits. Government doesn't like churches calling them out for their corruption.

Property taxes are calculated based off of values at the start of the year. Those values then get hashed with school boards to make the appropriate millage.

Im still all ears on how less than 1% of property owners of an area (churches) paying taxes is going to convince them to drop the mileage rate.

This doesn’t work in the vast majority of cases, especially in large urban areas.

Way the frick over 1% of the property value in your county, I guarantee you that. I'm not talking about a percentage of the parcels; only the values.

And when a church buys a block of residential houses for "future" expansion
and collects rents for years with zero tax burden that's corrupt as all get out.

I addressed that earlier and no. It's been taxed already at some point.

If you tax all churches only the mega churches survive.

Yuck.

What?

When a church makes an investment using tithed money, how is that getting separate treatment from another 501c3 investments using donated funds?

They're collecting income that's on property when they're a landlord just like I am.

Again, how is this different from any 501(c)(3) that invests in real property?

Not The First Church of Me!

This would be a great tax scheme.

I will even attend The First Church of You, if you attend The First Church of Me.
