Arkansas fan--Transfee DL Sims from Oregon/HS DL Yarbrough
Posted by El Segundo Guy on 1/17/26 at 6:39 am
I see Sims is going to Arkansas and Yarbrough signed in December.
Both of those guys are from the high school in the county I live in and went to Durant, OK HS and played together. When Sims was a SR, Yarbrough was a SO. I know a friend's kid that played with them and his impression was Sims is a stud and the real deal. Yarbrough was more hype and athletic potential than production.
But Yarbrough is supposedly a good young man with his head on straight. My wife has been acquainted with his mom for 15 plus years and the mom is really excited for him to get a shot at Arkansas.
Anyway, I'll be looking forward to seeing how they progress for you guys and hoping they represent Bryan County well.

Aaron's so mad that it might mess up his menstrual cycle.

Washington County, MO is actually backwoods as shite for being fairly close to St Louis. My dad worked for the Mark Twain National Forest and would have to go survey forest timber around Potosi.
Elephant Rocks is there as well and is a cool place.
Rural Missouri is great, but you need a good bit of land to have lebensraum from the meth heads.

That's the funniest and best video clip I've seen in quite a while.
Have those nerds ever even seen a fight, much less ever been in one? The older guy towards the end--when in range, all he did was put his head down to his knee level like he was turtling up. Did it a couple of times. Just asking for a knee to the dome.

Worth it. Don't you enjoy tacos?

That's really not good. I think some of the RBs have been serviceable but I can't stand the way Alabama has built their OL the past several years. Huge guys with stars, but we're really just overweight and slow. Guys that look like behemoths but are pudgy and soft.

Dairy Queen sucks. Whataburger has gone into no ho territory for me. Way back in used to love their patty melts. I won't go to Whataburger anymore and they're all around me.
Sonic is obviously popular in Oklahoma (it's headquarters is in OKC) but I prefer a different Oklahoma chain--Braum's. Their crinkly fries aren't the best but no worries. Their burgers and shakes are on point.

re: Whitetail deer hunts in Illinois.

My family for several generations grew up farming the fertile grounds of Puke and Calhoun counties of Illinois. I still have so many family members around Pittsfield and Kampsville.
Ive killed deer in 5 states and none have been as nice as the ones i killed on the old farm over there. I assume it's still shotgun and not rifle, at least it was when I used to extensively hunt the area.
Big deer over there. They're definitely eating well.

re: How do people survive working in an office?
Posted by El Segundo Guy on 1/9/26 at 11:03 am to ClemsonKitten
I was on an Abrams tank for over 20 years, so I was always outside. Except for 3 years when I was voluntold to be an Army Recruiter for 3 years. Those 3 years working out of an office were really hard for me.
I'd rather be outside breathing fresh air and dealing with the elements. It's my belief that humans weren't designed to be trapped inside 4 walls for most of their lives.

You can in Oklahoma, but it's basically the wild west over here.

They were filming Season 2 at the Choctaw Casino here in Oklahoma a few weeks ago. I'm probably going to be in the background of a few scenes unless I get edited out.

Central West End has always been nice. But if you wander a block in the wrong direction, forget about it.
Downtown is a serious shithole. I won't ever go back into the city proper.

Props to the ones that have stayed in Louisiana. Risking getting shanked or car broken into for the crawdads and the tailgating.

Their open drug use is insane. When I was in Seattle in August for a few days, I saw at least 4 instances of EMS responding to ODs on the sidewalks pumping arcane.
Total shithole.

re: Looking for a kitten
Posted by El Segundo Guy on 1/4/26 at 1:05 pm to robot55
I always just go by a vet office or the pound and pick two up aandstart training them to be inside/outside cats. If the shelter asks, just tell them they'll be indoor only, as long as they didn't declaw them then just roll with it. They'll definitely need their front claws to climb trees and hunt prey.
I live in the middle of nowhere and I love having indoor/outdoor kittens. They kill rodents and kill every snake in probably a 25 acre area. They do occasionally kill some small birds, but that's the cost of doing business out in the country.
My current two are now 4 years old and they enjoy attention, they love hunting and will cuddle and do some cool shite. They're both really loyal and if I go outside and loudly whistle and call their names then they'll come from wherever they are. They patrol my fields, woods, shop buildings, etc.

There's the male currently taking over my bulldog's dog bed.

And half of the SEC teams that made the playoffs looked like dogshitin the games. Keep acting like this isnt a real issue.
