No traditional warfare and no traditional MIC money-pit, continuous war.

We need SPEC-OPS, precision drones, satellite surveillance that we actually use and weed the cancer out.

it will be like a vacuum and would get brutal on the streets for the power struggle that will ensue for EL JEFE’s to step in and take over, but we could put a dent in their operation

If you really want to destroy the cartels make their products legal. That is. the most effective strategy.

The best economic solution (beyond legalizing drugs) is to pay Mexico and the Cartels to do stop dealing drugs.

Would be a lot cheaper than war.

The material support statute, which courts have chosen to define broadly, has been an effective weapon in the campaign against home-grown jihadists. Designation as a terrorist group also enables the U.S. Treasury Department to outlaw financial transactions and freeze assets. And the designation allows authorities to bar entry into the United States and facilitates the removal of non–U.S. citizens.

Thousands of Americans are dying every single year. I think we're more than justified to say, you know what, we've had enough of this. We're going to go in and we're just going to kill these people.

The operational dynamics and issues are effectively the same.

Again, if you see "the cartels" only as the physical bodies of humans currently involved, then yes, we can kill them, like terrorist cells.

What happens when new cartels form with new people (just like with terrorism)?

JUST STOP PAYING NGOs.

Huge problem, and this is why who you put a Treasury is so important. That can't go to some Big Money person. It needs to go to a vicious bulldog who will use all the power that Treasury has to freeze accounts, de-fund and refuse to recharge accounts, and to pull money back from accounts. From up there at Treasury, all the funding lines can be traced and taken action upon.

Mexico’s problems won’t stop until degenerates here stop doing drugs.

Degenerates here won’t stop doing drugs until feelings of despair are corrected.

Feelings of despair won’t be corrected until people once again find meaning in their lives.

This is impossible as long as we remain the big gay post-Christian liberal “democracy” that we are. So either stop worrying about it, or start preaching on street corners (or handing out pamphlets for political radicalism).

Seal the border with military and then build a wall. Far more effective, far cheaper, far more permanent.

What is the estimated start date on this, exactly?

More productive would be sending military advisers (Green Berets) to work with Mexican military and government will US Special Forces support.

They already do and we (US) have been there (and Colombia, and Peru, and Panama, and…insert C/S. American country not named Venezuela) for years…on THIS I know.

How’s it worked out so far?

Yeah, let’s double down on more armed intervention without a will to address the multi-tiered problem there and most importantly, here.

You kill them too. And then you kill the next batch, and the next. Eventually people smart enough to refrain from doing the shite that gets them killed takes over.

A younger brother of a HS friend of mine spoke fluent Portuguese because his dad may or may not have been in Brazil during his youth doing just this

If we do this, we're going to see the narco-terrorism of 80's Colombia in Dallas, Houston, El Paso, Phoenix, and San Diego. One of the biggest mistakes we made in the War on Drugs was putting El Chapo on ice. Don't get me wrong, he's a scumbag, but he brought some semblance of order to the drug trade. El Mencho is just a ruthless killer and we've empowered him by removing his primary competition. The Sinaloa Cartel is fracturing, so they won't be able to compete with Jalisco New Generation.

Iraq was nation-building, hearts and minds bullshite, half way around the world.

This is blowing up shite and killing people, practically on our doorstep. You're comparing apples and cowboy boots.
