I am so tired of this refrain: that if you don't like or enjoy something you are ignorant.

It's the #1 sport among Girl Scouts and the #8 sport among High School male students.

I used to think soccer was lame as shite, and the flopping is ridiculous and definitely needs a culture change, but honestly it's an amazing sport to follow and following EPL/Champions League/World Cup is fantastic.

Athletes respect athletes. LeBron respects Messi, Gretzky respects Jordan, bolt respects tiger, etc. the only people who hate soccer haven’t played or don’t understand it or flat out sucked so bad and gave up and deemed it socialism. I’d say the vast majority on this board who think it’s such a pussy sport wouldn’t last 30 minutes in a game.

You and the bartender are idiots. Soccer is a great sport and physically brutal. There are only a few other ways to more quickly out yourself as a closeminded inbred than to be a vocal soccer-hater.

As a soccer player for nearly 10 years, I have 0 issue admitting that its boring AF to watch.

They hate that it's been shoved down our throat with guilty pleas like that previous poster calling it "ignorance" if you don't love soccer.
The Frick?
From 1978 to now soccer has been the sport of the future in America.
Never happened. It was going to overtake the NFL and MLB.
Never happened.
Some cultures only have one sport because it's cheap and easy to play. Ergo Soccer being so globally popular.
America has the luxury of choices. We can play expensive and more intricate sports.
Soccer doesn't fit into that paradigm. Soccer is a poor man's sport...or a little girls sport. You can sign up any daughter and they can play soccer tomorrow. You have to actually teach them to hit a baseball for Little League which takes time.

What’s so boring? The constant action or the no commercials? I find EPL soccer amazing to watch. I’m constantly in awe of the skill and athleticism. I have only been a fan since my son started playing 2 years ago so maybe it’s still new to me. The only thing more action packed is hockey.

Try running for as long as they do and you may change your mind. Soccer is a grueling sport. I love baseball and golf, but they don't even compare. Neither does basketball.
Football and hockey are comparable, but it takes a completely different type of athlete. Football, hockey and baseball are my favorite sports bit I can respect the talent and athleticism if soccer players

It’s the lack of goals. The ties. And the flopping. And the general lack of understanding the rules and flow of the game.
Scoring doesn’t have to happen in any sport to make it extremely entertaining.
It should probably be taken to the soccer board to continue the debate though.
